I would like to receive the information in electronic format. As a representative of the news media I am only required to pay for the direct cost of duplication after the first 100 pages. Through this request, I am gathering information on the number of cited andor documented overweight vehicles on Georgia and South Carolina roads that is of current interest to the public because overweight vehicles aren't just a safety concern; they also cost taxpayers a lot of money in the form of road repairs. This information is being sought on behalf of WRDW News 12 for dissemination to the general public. Please waive any applicable fees. Release of the information is in the public interest because it will contribute significantly to public understanding of government operations and activities. If my request is denied in whole or part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act. I will also expect you to release all segregable portions of otherwise exempt material. I, of course, reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to deny a waiver of fees.     2020 Approved General Government Operating Budget Appendix R Local Government Profile Geography Anchorage is located in south central Alaska situated on a broad plain at the head of the Cook Inlet. It lies slightly farther north than Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki and St. Petersburg. • Anchorage According to the United States Census Bureau, the Juneau municipality has a total area of 1980 square miles. Organization In 1975, the citizens of the Anchorage area ratified a Home Rule Charter for a unified municipal government. Under the Municipal Charter, the City of Anchorage, incorporated in 1920, the Greater Anchorage Are Borough, incorporated in 1964, and two small incorporated communities, Girdwood and Glen Alps were dissolved as of September 15, 1975, and the Municipality became their legal successor. Being a unified home rule municipality, the Municipality is responsible for a wide range of public services that are commonly provided through both a city and a county government. The chief executive officer of the Municipality is the Mayor, who is elected at-large to a three- year term and who may not serve more than two consecutive terms. Subject to confirmation by the Assembly, the Mayor appoints the Municipal Manager, the Municipal Attorney, the Chief Fiscal Officer, and all head of municipal departments. The Mayor may participate, but may not vote, in meetings of the Assembly. The Mayor may veto ordinances passed by the Assembly, and veto, strike or reduce budget or appropriation measure line items. A minimum of eight members of the Assembly must vote to override a veto by the Mayor.     Interior Alaska Transportation Plan November 2010 6 Transportation Analysis 6.1 Highway Transportation Analysis The highway transportation analysis considers the following factors: Roadway Operations: planning assessment based on highway traffic forecasts. Safety: crash data assessment, special interest areas, safety plans (Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), SHSP), and predictive safety improvements. Roadway Conditions and System Needs: roadway system needs, planned improvements, resource needs (i.e. pipeline), railroad (grade separation), and local community access. Maintenance & Operations: maintenance stations, deferred and preventive maintenance, and maintenance management systems. Pavement Preservation and Management: pavement preservation, pavement management, and weight restrictions. Security: border crossing and the Alyeska Pipeline. Tourism Enhancements: scenic byways and rest areas (signage and accessibility). 6.1.1 Roadway Capacity Using the 2030 forecast traffic volumes, a comprehensive roadway capacity evaluation was completed for all of the major rural highways. A planning level assessment based on the existing highway characteristics and 2030 traffic forecasts revealed no major roadway capacity constraints. Under long-term conditions, all roadway facilities within the study area will continue to operate at a LOS C or better, with most facilities forecast to operate at LOS A and B. As discussed in Section Error! Reference source not found. Highway Traffic Forecasts, the potential impacts of future resource and economic development would have the greatest impact on rural highway operations. However, based on the future traffic operations assessment assuming a relatively average (i.e. medium growth) annual growth in highway traffic, traffic volumes would have to double or even triple on average in order to impact the capacity needs in the system.

    Premier Alaska Tours Seward Highway: Seward to Anchorage Alaska Seward Population: 2,693 Located on Resurrection Bay, approximately 127 miles south of Anchorage, Seward is known as the “Gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park”. It was founded in 1903 as the southern terminus of the Alaska Railroad. One of only two deep-water ports south of Anchorage, Seward is the port for the two Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruise ships. The bustling harbor and historic downtown district is filled with quaint shops and art galleries. The Port of Seward is also an important seafood shipment center, handling halibut, salmon, and crabs. According to a 2011 National Marine Fisheries Service report, Seward is the ninth most lucrative fisheries port in the United States based on the monetary value of fish taken from the port. In the summer months, visitors come to experience trophy sport fishing, glacier and wildlife cruises, sailing, hiking, kayaking, flightseeing, summer dog sled rides, and more. In winter, Seward transforms itself into a winter wonderland offering cross-country skiing and snowmachining adventures. The City of Seward is named in honor of William Henry Seward. He served as the United States Secretary of State during the administrations of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. As secretary of state, Seward negotiated the United States purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867. The treaty was signed March 30, 1867, and is celebrated annually as Seward’s Day. Resurrection Bay was named by Russian fur trader and explorer Alexander Baranof, in 1791. While sailing from Kodiak to Yakutat, Baranof encountered a storm and found shelter in this bay on Russian holiday of the Resurrection, Baranof named it accordingly.
