(2015), we cover the Conoidea and the Heterobranchia. Fifty-nine species are recorded, of which 14 are new: Asthenotoma lanceolata nov. sp., Aphanitoma marqueti nov. sp., Clathurella pierreaimei nov. sp., Clavatula helwerdae nov. sp., Haedropleura fratemcontii nov. sp., Bela falbalae nov. sp., Raphitoma georgesi nov. sp., Raphitoma landreauensis nov. sp., Raphitoma palumbina nov. sp., Raphitoma turtaudierei nov. sp., Raphitoma vercingetorixi nov. sp., Raphitoma pseudoconcinna nov. sp., Adelphotectonica bieleri nov. sp., and Ondina asterixi nov. sp. Actaeonidea achatina Sacco, 1896 is considered a junior subjective synonym of Rictaxis tornatus (Millet, 1854).

Paolo Giulio Albano Coordinatore Dottorato Relatore Prof.ssa Barbara Mantovani Prof. Francesco Zaccanti Co-relatore Prof. Bruno Sabelli Esame finale anno 2011 to Ilaria and Chiara, my daughters This PhD thesis is the completion of a long path from childhood amateur conchology to scientific research. Many people were involved in this journey, but key characters are three. Luca Marini, director of “Secche di Tor Paterno” Marine Protected Area, shared the project idea of field research on molluscs and trusted me in accomplishing the task. Without his active support in finding funds for the field activities this project would have not started. It is no exaggeration saying I would not have even thought of entering the PhD without him. Bruno Sabelli, my PhD advisor, is another person who trusted me above reasonable expectations. Witness of my childhood love for shells, he has become witness of my metamorphosis to a researcher. Last, but not least, Manuela, my wife, shared my objectives and supported me every single day despite the family challenges we had to face. Many more people helped profusely. I sincerely hope not to forget anyone. Marco Oliverio, Sabrina Macchioni, Letizia Argenti and Roberto Maltini were great SCUBA diving buddies during field activities. Betulla Morello, former researcher at ISMAR-CNR in Ancona, was my guide through the previously unexplored land of non-parametric multivariate statistics.

Three new species of Anacithara from the Southwestern Atlantic Ocean, Brazil (Mollusca, Neogastropo- da, Conoidea, Horaiclavidae). Spixiana 38 (1): 21-28. This paper reports the turrid-like genus Anacithara Hedley, 1922 for the Western Atlantic based on the description of three new species collected from the deep sea of the southwestern Atlantic. Anacithara biconica spec. nov. is characterized by a biconical shell, proto-teleoconch transition with thickened axial riblets, a teleoconch well constricted at suture, a deep suture and strongly crenulated on the body whorl; A. pupiforme spec. nov. has a pupoid shell, proto-teleoconch transition marked by appearance of fine axial riblets, a teleoconch sculptured by rounded, low, attenu- ated axial ribs, a moderately deep suture that is slightly crenulated on the body whorl; and A. pyrgoforme spec. nov. is diagnosed by a turriform shell, a not regu- larly convex teleoconch whorls and ribs that are slightly flattened in the subsu- tural region, and a moderately deep suture that is slightly crenulated on the body whorl.

Preliminary results were published by Avila & Azevedo (1997). That earlier list is here complemented with new records and some cor rections. Species determination, synonymy and the ordination of families follows the CLEMAM database (http://www.mnhn.fr/base/malaco.html). Six new taxa are reported to the Azores: Vitreo/ina curva (Monterosato, 1874), Nassarius cf. ovoideus (Locard, 1886), Mangelia coarctata (Forbes, 1840), Raphitoma /euJrqyi (Michaud,1838), Coryphela sp. and Pseudocham£lgryphina (Lamarck, 1819). The total number of shallow-water marine molluscs from Formigas islets is now of 88 taxa (1 Polyplacophora,66 Gastropoda, 20 Bivalvia and I Cephalopoda). Acta Geologica Polonica, Vol. 53 (2003), No. 1, pp. 29-78 Middle Miocene (Badenian) gastropods from Korytnica, Poland; Part IV – Turridae WAC¸AW BA¸UK Institute of Geology, University of Warsaw, Al. ˚wirki i Wigury 93; Pl-02-089 Warszawa, Poland ABSTRACT: BA¸UK, W. 2003. Middle Miocene (Badenian) gastropods from Korytnica, Poland; Part IV – Turridae. Acta Geologica Polonica, 53 (1), 29-78. Warszawa. This report is the fourth part of the monograph of the surprisingly rich assemblage of gastropods occurring in the so- called Pleurotoma Clays of Middle Miocene (Badenian) age, exposed in the environs of Korytnica in the Holy Cross Mountains, Central Poland. It contains characteristics of 101 prosobranch species of one family, the Turridae. Within this assemblage, five species are new for the science (including one, formerly reported from Korytnica, but deter- mined erroneously); of the recognized species as many as 72 have not hitherto been reported from Korytnica, and 66 from the Miocene of Poland. As the new species established are: Clavatula kowalewskii sp.nov., Perrona (Perrona) czarnockii sp.nov., Turricula (Surcula) korytnicensis sp.nov., Cythara (Mangelia) cibori sp.nov., and Bela sanctacrucen- sis sp.nov. Key words: Prosobranch gastropods, Turridae, Middle Miocene, Korytnica. Middle Miocene conoidean gastropods from western Ukraine (Paratethys): Integrative taxonomy, palaeo- climatogical and palaeobiogeographical implications DANIELE SCARPONI, GIANO DELLA BELLA, BRUNO DELL’ANGELO, JOHN WARREN HUNTLEY, and MAURIZIO SOSSO Scarponi, D., Della Bella, G., Dell’Angelo, B., Huntley, J.W., and Sosso, M. 2016. Middle Miocene conoidean gastro- pods from western Ukraine (Paratethys): Integrative taxonomy, palaeoclimatogical and palaeobiogeographical implica- tions. Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 61 (2): 327–344. The late Badenian (early Serravallian) conoideans from the Pidhirtsi Beds of western Ukraine (central Paratethys) have been investigated by means of a comprehensive and easy-to-perform morphometric approach, allowing the charac- terisation of eleven species, of which seven are new to science: Mangelia angulicosta sp. nov., M. larga sp. nov., M. pseudorugulosa sp. nov., M. odovychenae sp. nov., Bela varovtsiana sp. nov., Bela? robusta sp. nov., Pyrgocythara turrispiralata sp. nov. Additionally we also identified Raphitoma cf. R. ringicula, Andonia sp. aff. A. transsylvanica, Teretia cf. T. turritelloides, and Haedropleura sp. aff. H. septangularis. The relative high number of new species doc- umented, relative to the total previously known from this stratigraphic interval, is interpreted as resulting mainly from combined methodological (dearth of taxonomic studies on Ukrainian conoideans) and environmental (high degree of habitat fragmentation in reef setting) factors. The conoideans documented herein add important
