ASSOCIAZIONE NAZIONALE FRA LE BANCHE POPOLARI 29 February 2008 - BRUSSELS 24 / 25 June 2008 - ROME PROGRAMME AESI is launching a Forum of European University Students with the Patronage of the President of the European Parliament which will be held in Rome the 24th and 25th of June, 2008. The main topics of the Forum will be focused on the analysis of the new Treaty of Lisbon and the future of the European Union. The general title of the Forum will be: “European Union Promoting Globalisation of Peace and Solidarity”. The programme will be organized in sessions focusing on the following main topics: human rights, integration and solidarity, peace and security, economic and energetic cooperation, etc. The Forum will represent a final process of analysis prepared during the academic year 2008 by the university students through seminars, workshops and conferences at local levels in their Countries. AESI is concentrating its academic year seminars of studies 2008 to this preliminary programme of preparation of the European Forum. The participants will come from different European Union Universities (delegations composed of 4 university students for each Member State). AESI has identified one coordinator for each delegation in collaboration with EUCA (European Association of University Colleges) and ARSS (Roman Association for Studies and Solidarity). They will stay for a couple of days in order to discuss the final document that will be submitted to the Presidency of the European Parliament in Rome. The Forum is sponsored by the “Associazione Nazionale fra le Banche Popolari”.     SPEAKERS' PROFILES Introductory session Antonio Tajani Antonio Tajani is Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for transport policy. From 1994 to 2008, he was a Member of the European Parliament and sat on various parliamentary committees. In 1999 he was chosen as leader of the Forza Italia party in the European Parliament and elected to the Presidency of the European People’s Party- European Democrats. He took part in the Convention on the future of Europe that drew up the draft European constitution from February 2002 to July 2003. One of the founder members of Forza Italia in 1994, Antonio Tajani was Mr Berlusconi’s spokesman during his first term of office as Prime Minister. He has a law degree from la Sapienza University in Rome. Leif Zetterberg Leif Zetterberg is State Secretary at the Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications of Sweden. Areas of responsibility: • Transport policy and infrastructure • IT policy • Postal services, telecommunications and radio communications Matthias Ruete Matthias Ruete was appointed as Director General in charge of DG Energy and Transport in January 2006. As Director in DG Enterprise and Industry he was in charge of competitiveness issues in 2005. He was formerly Director in DG Enlargement since 1998, being responsible first for coordination of negotiations with 10 candidate countries (2004 enlargement) and then in charge of negotiations with Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. His legal background and his ability as negotiator have ensured the success of the missions assigned to him.     Europe’s 500 calls for the European Commission to address the expected tightening of financing available to European growth companies Europe’s 500 turns to the insurance sector for possible solutions Brussels, February 3rd 2011 - Europe’s 500, the association of top European growth entrepreneurs met at the European Parliament in Brussels on February 3rd at the European Growth Summit 2011. The conference focused on the possible solutions to tackle the obstacles met by Europe’s growth companies in order to obtain bank financing. Following the summit, the awards ceremony took place to honour the top growth companies and to release Europe’s 500’s ranking of fast-growing, job-creating companies. The award certificates were presented by former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. Europe’s 500’s mission is to support entrepreneurial initiatives and improve the conditions of economic growth and job creation in Europe. Its goal at the summit was to help entrepreneurs redefine and reflect on their strategies and to make recommendations to the European Union based on the conclusions of their talks, with a special focus on how to ease financing for the real economy and also how to better support exports. The event brought together high-level personalities from EU institutions and the media, as well as entrepreneurs and experts who attended the conference and awards ceremony. The summit began with a welcome speech addressed by Markus Ferber, Member of the European Parliament, followed by an introduction by Martin Schoeller, President of Europe's 500 and then a keynote speech by Vincent van Quickenborne, Minister for Economy and Reform, Belgium.

    VADEMECUM OF THE SPEAKERS 1 UEAPME Luc Hendrickx Director Enterprise Policy and External Relations European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Luc Hendrickx is since 2000 Director of Enterprise Policy and External Relations at UEAPME, the European employer's organisation representing the interests of crafts and SMEs at EU level. Across the whole of Europe, UEAPME represents through its 65 member organisations over 12 million enterprises with nearly 55 million employees. In this function he is responsible for SME policy, better regulation, legal affairs, internal market issues, accounting, retail, tourism, trade, corporate social responsibility, external relations... From 1997 until 2000 he was member of cabinet of the Flemish Minister of Environment and Employment. In 1989 he joined UNIZO, the Belgian SME organisation, as Legal Counsellor. Between 1992 and 1998 he was also professor at the Flemish Economic High School (VLEKHO) in Brussels. He started his career in 1986 as salesman in his sister’s do-it-your self shop. Luc Hendrickx has a Law degree from the Catholic University of Leuven (B), a Diploma from the Institut Européen des Hautes Etudes Internationales of Nice (F) and a Master in European Studies from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (S). 2 UNILEVER Mr Christian Prins, Director European External Affairs at Unilever Joined Unilever in May 2008. Christiaan Prins holds a Master degree in International Relations from the University of Groningen (NL) and a PhD in Arts from the University of Groningen (NL).
