ORGANIZERS MARK 100 DAYS TO 12TH ANNUAL HOCKEY DAY MINNESOTA Hockey Day Flag Raised at Lake George as Preparations Continue for Statewide Hockey Celebration on Jan. 20; SCSU-UMD Women’s Game to be First-Ever Outdoor Women’s College Hockey Game on Hockey Day

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The official 12th Annual Wells Fargo Hockey Day Minnesota flag was raised during a special ceremony at St. Cloud’s Lake George Municipal Park today to mark 100 days to the statewide hockey celebration, which will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20. Headquartered from an outdoor rink that will be constructed at Lake George, the backdrop will feature downtown St. Cloud. Proceeds of the event will benefit St. Cloud area youth hockey programs.

Officials from the , FOX Sports North, St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis, St. Cloud State University, the St. Cloud Organizing Committee and participating high schools gathered to mark the occasion and provide an update on preparations. St. Cloud will host Hockey Day’s outdoor games in 2018 on a temporary outdoor rink to be constructed at Lake George.

Tickets for Wells Fargo Hockey Day Minnesota 2018 in St. Cloud will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16 at Paramount Theater or online at wild.com/hockeyday. Official Hockey Day Minnesota 2018 merchandise is now available online at stateofhockeystore.com.

The weekend will kick-off on Friday, Jan. 19 with a girl’s high school hockey game between the St. Cloud Icebreakers and Sartell/Sauk Rapids Storm’n Sabres at 5 p.m. at Lake George followed by a St. Cloud State University alumni hockey game at 7:30 p.m. featuring Team Parrish battling Team Hedican. The alumni game will feature former men’s and women’s hockey players from St. Cloud State University. More details regarding the alumni game, including team rosters, will be announced at a later date.

FOX Sports North coverage of Wells Fargo Hockey Day Minnesota 2018 will include a full day of hockey-related programming designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros. The outdoor games will feature the first-ever outdoor women’s college hockey game on Hockey Day when St. Cloud State faces cross-state rival University of Minnesota-Duluth. In outdoor boy’s high school hockey action, St. Cloud will play St. Cloud Cathedral and Centennial will play Moorhead. FOX Sports North will also televise the men’s college hockey intra-state rivalry contest between Minnesota State University, Mankato and St. Cloud State University from the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center near Lake George on the campus of St. Cloud State on FOX Sports North PLUS. FOX Sports North coverage includes over 18 hours of original hockey programming, including five live games and a variety of special features highlighting stories from across the “State of Hockey”.
