In Ft. Edward, July 27th, of typhoid fever, after an illness of nineteen days, SUE P., wife of Jerome M. CAMPBELL. Her maiden name was POTTER. She was born in Minetto, Oswego county, N. Y., Oct. 11th, 1840, and was therefore nearing the thirty-fourth anniversary of her birth. In tender years she was left an orphan and was taken to the home of an uncle in Easton, where, as the years rolled by, she grew up to be a young woman of unusual charms of person and goodness of heart. In 1858 she became a student at the Troy conference academy. And here, while assiduously cultivating her mind, she gave her heart to Jesus, and with some nineteen or twenty others, was baptised, and united with the church. In July 1866, she was united in wedlock to Mr. Jerome M. Campbell of Poultney, Vt., and with him, in October of the same year, removed to Fort Edward, where they resided until her death. She made her home beautiful, exemplifying the winning graces of an unobtrusive and consistent Christian. To her grief stricken husband and little ones, a girl of four years and a boy of twenty months, she has bequeathed the memory of a true wife and faithful, loving mother, an inheritance richer than gold. Her body was brought to Poultney and interred in the Poultney cemetery, Tuesday, 28th. The funeral services were conducted by her former teacher, Rev. Wm. H. Poor, from the residence of Mr. Jonas Clark, her brother-in-law. – Rutland, (Vt.) Globe, July 21st.

During the last six months of his life he served as leader of the Centre class at Independence. He was very much concerned about the spiritual welfare of his class, and frequently made it a subject of prayer. He was also a respected citizen, which was fully demonstrated on the day of his interment by the large concourse of neighbors and friends in attendance. His departure is deeply felt in the family, Church, and neighborhood. May God comfort the bereaved. Funeral services by the writer, assisted by Rev. Cone of the Presbyterian Church. G. W. Miesse.
