März 2007, Maschinenprobleme, Passagiere nach Kirkenes werden in Honningsvåg und Tromsø ausgeladen, das Schiff fährt nach Bergen zur Reparatur. 13. Februar 2008, das Schiff kehrt aufgrund von starken Winden vor Havøysund um und fährt statt dessen nach Alta. Am 15. Februar kehrt es südgehend in Hammerfest in den Fahrplan zurück. 16. Februar 2011, das Schiff verlässt die Hurtigrute für einen Werftaufenthalt in Odense bis zum 8. März. Ab dem 10.3.2011 ist es wieder in der Hurtigrute unterwegs. 9. Mai 2011, Propellerdefekt, die aktuelle Tour wird abgebrochen. Das Schiff kommt in die Fosen-Werft, erreicht diese am 12. Mai. Erst ab 25. Mai fährt sie wieder in der Hurtigrute , südgehend ab Trondheim 1. Januar 2012, Defekt des Steuerbordgetriebes als das Schiff in den Trondheimfjord einbiegt. Das Schiff fährt langsam bis Trondheim, hier endet vorzeitig die aktuelle Tour und die nächste wird auch storniert. Am 2. Januar startet die POLARLYS von Trondheim, und erreicht am 3. Januar Volda wo sie bei Scana repariert wird. Am späten Abend des 11. Januar startet die POLARLYS wieder in Richtung Bergen, wo sie am 13. Janaur wieder den Liniendienst aufnimmt. 22. April 2012, das Schiff rammt beim Ablegen den Holzkai in Mehamn und zerstört in so stark, dass nur noch die LOFOTEN dort anlegen kann. Alle anderen Schiffe müssen am Industriekai anlegen. Die POLARLYS trägt keine sichtbaren Schäden davon. Der Grund war möglicherweise eine starke Windböe. 15. November 2013, das Schiff lässt südgehend Kristiansund aus und beendet die Tour in Ålesund. Dort bleibt es wegen des schlechten Wetters etwa einen Tag, ehe es zum geplanten Werftaufenthalt nach Landskrona fährt. Dieser endet am 7. Dezember. 09. Dezember 2013, das Schiff trifft am Vormittag in Bergen ein und startet seine planmäßige Reise (8.12.) mit 20-stündiger Verspätung. Zwischen Bergen und Rørvik sind alle Anläufe annulliert. 12. Februar 2014, das Schiff lässt südgehend Trondheim und die weiteren Häfen aus, um früher nach Bergen zurückzukehren. Grund hierfür ist der turnusmäßig anstehende Krängungstest. Da dieser wetterbedingt länger dauert, als geplant, startet das Schiff erst am 14. Februar um 10 Uhr. Daher werden - außer Ålesund - alle Häfen bis Trondheim ausgelassen. 07. Februar 2015, wegen des Orkans Ole wird der Abschnitt Honningsvåg - Kirkenes - Hammerfest gestrichen. Das Schiff wettert statt dessen in Alta ab. 09. Februar 2015: Das Schiff wird gegenüber der US Bank Trustees Ltd. in London als Teilsicherheit für einen € 624.000.000,- Kredit gestellt. 01. Februar 2016. Das Schiff beendet in Trondheim vorzeitig seine südgehende Reise und fährt in die Fosen-Werft nach Rissa. Wegen der Modernisierung der Innenräume fällt es für zwei Touren im Liniendienst aus. 20. Februar 2016. Hurtigruten meldet aktuell, dass auch die Folgereise vom 24.2. - 6.3.2016 storniert werden muss. Grund ist ein verlängerter Werftaufenthalt in Rissa. 03. März 2016, das Schiff verlässt die Werft und macht am Kreuzfahrtterminal in Trondheim fest. Von hier startet das Schiff am 04 .März nach Bergen um den Dienst in der Route wieder aufzunehmen. 29. In Folge ist sie südgehend erst ab Hammerfest wieder im Fahrplan. 08. Dezember 2016: Aufgrund eines Magen-Darm-Virus an Bord müssen an Bord der POLARLYS in Bergen umfassende Desinfektionsarbeiten durchgeführt werden. Das für diesen Abend an Bord angesetzte Weihnachtsessen muss in ein Hotel verlegt werden. 04. April 2017: Das Schiff beteiligt sich im Sørøysund an einer Rettungsaktion für ein in Seenot geratenes Fischereifahrzeug. 29. Juni 2017: Bei einem Arbeitsunfall in Bergen stürzt ein Mann an der Laderampe der POLARLYS vier Meter in die Tiefe und wird mit leichten Verletzungen in's Krankenhaus gebracht. 05. September 2018: Die Polizei nimmt an Bord der südgehenden POLARLYS in Bodø einen alkoholisierten Passagier fest, der sich auffällig verhalten hatte. 10.-21. Oktober 2018: Planmäßiger Werftaufenthalt. 23. März 2019: Die POLARLYS bricht die Rundreise witterungsbedingt südgehend in Trondheim ab. 21. Oktober 2019, wegen eines Defektes der Bugstrahlruder bricht das Schiff die Tour in Trondheim ab.

    New CCO and CFO for Hurtigruten We are pleased to announce that Asta Lassesen has accepted the role as Chief Commercial Officer in Hurtigruten, effective January 6th. Lassesen has been with Hurtigruten since 2007 and held various roles within the company, most recently Chief Financial Officer since 2012. She has been a vital contributor in the turnaround of Hurtigruten, and her knowledge of the business, analytical approach and focus on results will allow her to drive the Commercial organization as the company continues to establish its place as a leader in the Explorer Travel sector. CEO Daniel Skjeldam is very pleased that Lassesen now assumes the position of CCO. He notes, “Asta has done an amazing job as CFO, and has been a key player in the transformation of the company over the past years. Her strong commercial and financial understanding combined with her analytical approach, makes me confident she is the right person to lead our Commercial Asta Lassesen department” We are also happy to welcome Torleif Ernstsen who will be joining Hurtigruten as Chief Financial Officer, effective February 1st. (2) The Authority has based its decision on the following considerations. Yearly worldwide production of plastic was 360 million tonnes in 2018, of which approximately 10 million reached the oceans. But there is very little data from remote regions of the world. Several studies have pointed to the tourism and fishing industries as the main sources of plastic marine litter. Hurtigruten as an operator of expedition cruise vessels, believes that it is our responsibility to invest in the understanding and conservation of the areas we visit, this is reflected on our sustainability efforts: Single Use Plastics were banned from all our ships and Hotels in 2018, we have built the first electric/fuel hybrid ships and are transforming other ships in the fleet to the same technology or to run on Liquid biogas. Scientific data collection in the polar regions is challenging due to remoteness, the harsh environment and high operational costs. For the last couple of years, we have supported the scientific community by transporting researchers and their equipment to and from their study areas in polar regions, we have established collaborations with numerous scientific institutions, such as University Centre in Svalbard, Norwegian Polar Institute, Institute for Marine Research, and Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) and we have been actively participating in clean-up projects, and are contributing to the SALT and MALINOR projects.
