Il écrit spécialement pour Les Rencontres musicales une œuvre d’après des textes de Laurent de Médicis, Io seguo con disio (Je suis avec passion), pour soprano et cordes, en hommage à Igor Markevitch, grande figure musicale liée à au village de Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne. L’œuvre sera préparée pendant la semaine avec l’ensemble des musiciens et créée au concert de clôture avec Shigeko Hata en soliste. Reconnu pour ses talents de médiateur auprés de tous les publics, Benoît Menut prépare également un spectacle pour enfants pour cette édition, Le terrain de jeu de Benoît, un programme ludique et interactif, un voyage délirant avec un « savant un peu fou » dans le monde de la musique, de sa propre musique… Une leçon de solfège pas comme les autres, des histoires, des contes depuis La Fontaine jusqu’aux contes russes en passant par des haïkus japonais.

Durée : environ 35 minutes. e En ce début de XIX siècle qui chérit les virtuoses, le Concerto pour violon de Beethoven refuse le déploiement d’une technique spectaculaire. Voilà qui explique sans doute les réserves de la critique, lors de la création en 1806. L’œuvre attendra plusieurs décennies pour réellement s’imposer, défendue notamment par Joseph Joachim. En effet, le genre concertant devient ici l’objet d’une nouvelle dialectique : le soliste orne les lignes mélodiques de l’orchestre et intensifie leur expression plus qu’il ne s’oppose à la masse instrumentale. Le violon évolue souvent dans l’aigu, mettant ainsi en valeur le jeu de Franz Clément (1780- 1842), premier violon et chef de l’orchestre du Theater an der Wien. Les témoignages de l’époque rapportent que le créateur de la partition excellait dans ce registre. Beethoven, qui tenait Clément en haute estime, lui a laissé l’initiative des cadences.

La répétition musicale semble en effet aussi inévitable que diverse. Elle irrigue, sous toutes ses formes et à tous les niveaux, le morceau : au-delà des reprises, da capo ou refrains, des « idées fixes » ou leitmotive, des réexpositions ou variations, qui forment une bonne part de l’économie formelle « apparente » de la pièce, elle intervient aussi au niveau des attractions tonales, des hauteurs de son, des durées… La liste de ses occurrences paraît en fait interminable. Le champ de la répétition oscille entre deux pôles extrêmes, ceux du fondamentalement identique et du fondamentalement différent. Ni l’un ni l’autre ne se laissent appréhender si facilement. Tout comme on ne se baigne jamais deux fois dans le même fleuve, l’acte même de répétition change la signification de ce qui est répété. De cet état de choses, les musiciens de la Renaissance et de l’ère baroque donneront des interprétations qui en accentuent le côté potentiellement vertigineux.
