Michael King and his fantastic collection of musicians bring you an exciting two hour show filled with Fury’s greatest hits including - Jealousy, I Will, In Thoughts of You, and Halfway to Paradise to name but a few, all delivered in true Fury style. Hailed as the best Fury since Fury, Michael bears an uncanny resemblance to Billy Fury which he further enhances by a series of wonderful costume changes. But if that is not enough, the production is further enhanced by the addition of a fantastic audio and video presentation. TICKETS: £18 NT LIVE SCREENING: LONDON ROAD Tuesday 9th June at 6.45pm Hailed as a remarkable, groundbreaking work during two sell-out runs at the National Theatre, the feature film adaptation of LONDON ROAD reunites the award-winning team, with a script by Alecky Blythe and music by Adam Cork, and directed by Rufus Norris (Broken). With an ensemble cast that includes Olivia Colman, Kate Fleetwood, Anita Dobson and Tom Hardy, LONDON ROAD documents the events that shook Suffolk in 2006, when the quiet rural town of Ipswich was shattered by the discovery of the bodies of five women. This unmissable premiere event will feature an exclusive Q&A following the screening with the key cast and crew, broadcast live from London. When Antony quarrels with his fellow leaders and throws in his lot with Cleopatra, his infatuation threatens to split the Empire in two. The third of our Roman Tragedies, Antony & Cleopatra picks up Antony’s story many years after Julius Caesar. Virtue and vice, transcendent love and realpolitik combine in Shakespeare’s greatest exploration of the conflicting claims of sex and power, all expressed in a tragic poetry of breath-taking beauty and magnificence. Only when he's together with his friends, a 'Mod' clique, cruises London on his motor-scooter and hears music such as that of 'The Who' and 'The High Numbers', he feels free and accepted. However, it's a flight into an illusionary world. TICKETS: £19 10 | STOCKPORT PLAZA BOX OFFICE: 0161 477 7779 STOCKPORT SHOWCASE OF DANCE Thursday 25th June at 7.30pm The ‘Stockport Showcase of Dance 2015’ arrives once again at The Plaza Theatre on Thursday 25th June. This is the sixth consecutive year that the event has taken place and is an evening dedicated to celebrating the talent of the dancers from over ten of Stockport’s Secondary Schools and Colleges. Students aged between 11 and 18 will be showcasing their talents and performing an array of different dances in a variety of styles including Contemporary, Street and Hip Hop as well as Jazz. There is also a collaborative finale piece performed by a small number of students from each school and college involved. TICKETS: £5 (FAMILY TICKET: £15) FILM: FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD Friday 26th June at 2.30pm & 7.30pm Adapted from the classic love story by Thomas Hardy, ‘Far From The Madding Crowd’ follows the life of Bathsheba Everdene and her relationship with a young shepherd. Though Gabriel Oak, the shepherd, loves her and proposes to her, she has another admirer, the lonely and repressed – though highly eligible – bachelor William Boldwood. The web of relationships grows even more complicated when the handsome, dashing Sergeant Troy returns and encounters her one night. Directed by Thomas Vinterberg, (‘The Hunt’) ‘Far From The Madding Crowd’ has an all-star cast including Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts and Michael Sheen.
