  • News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
News of Terrorism and the Israeli- Palestinian Conflict June 18-24 This past week a missile fired from Syria hit a truck and killed an Israeli boy. Left: The wounded evacuated to a hospital (Tazpit.org.il, June 22, 2014). Right: Remains of the rocket and the damage done to the truck (IDF Spokesman, June 22, 2014). Overview IDF Operation Brothers' Keeper to find and return the three abducted Israeli youths has entered its 11th day, focusing on the region around Hebron. So far the youths are still missing. The IDF has also carried out extensive activities throughout Judea and Samaria in order to damage the Hamas infrastructure. So far more than 300 suspects have been detained, most of them (240) Hamas activists and operatives. Among the detainees are 56 terrorist operatives released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal. Weapons have also been seized and institutions affiliated with Hamas have been closed. An Israeli boy was killed in the Golan Heights by a Syrian anti-tank missile. Israel holds the Syrian regime was responsible for the attack and the boy's death. In retaliation the Israeli Air Force struck Syrian army posts. Mahmoud Abbas, chairman of the Palestinian Author ity (PA), gave a speech in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he said that those responsible for the abduction "want to destroy us, and we [i.e., the PA] will settle accounts with them." At the same time the PA strongly criticized the IDF action in Judea and Samaria. In addition, there a certain amount of unrest was created in the Palestinian street, the result of friction with IDF forces.

We open our hearts and ask their forgiveness for some small incident that may be etched in our memories. Though it may be incidental, and the person may not have even been aware of it, it gnaws at us, and we plead for forgiveness and we feel better admitting truths to ourselves and righting ourselves emotionally. We seek advice from our loved ones for difficult problems and though they physically cannot speak to us we know how they thought and what is right to do in any given situation. Yom Kippur and the Yizkor prayer is the time when we pray to God and ask forgiveness for straying from the path of Torah. It is the time when we pledge to do better both personally and spiritually.

He reads and writes the holy language (Hebrew) and is attended by many belonging to the people of Israel. He will not partake of anything unless he has earned it by the work of his own hands. The men of Islam see him once a year. In Baghdad there are about 40,000 Jews “dwelling in security, prosperity and honour and amongst them are great sages, the heads of Academies engaged in the study of the Law. • Return of Palestinian Terrorist Operatives Released in the Gilad Shalit Prisoner Exchange Deal to Terrorist Activities
June 26, 2014 Return of Palestinian terrorist operatives released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal to terrorist activities Left: The rifle and magazines used in the shooting attack in which Baruch Mizrahi was killed by a Palestinian terrorist released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal (Israel Security Agency, June 23, 2014). Right: Baruch Mizrahi, an Israeli police officer, killed in a shooting attack on the night of the Passover Seder (Facebook page of the Israel Police Force, April 15, 2014) Overview 1. It was recently made known that on May 7, 2014, the Israeli security forces detained a Hamas terrorist operative from the Hebron region who was released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal (October 2011). The Palestinian is suspected of having carried out, with the help of his son, the shooting attack that killed Israeli police officer Baruch Mizrahi on April 14, 2014. Until his release he had been imprisoned in Israel for the murder of a Palestinian he suspected of collaborating with Israel. 2. The detention of another terrorist operative released in the Shalit deal is an indication of the widespread return, especially of Hamas operatives, to terrorist activities in Judea and Samaria. The terrorists released in the Shalit deal are actively involved in terrorist and violence in Judea and Samaria, and direct terrorist activities from the Gaza Strip and countries including Qatar and Turkey. The analysis of cases where operatives released in the Shalit deal were involved in terrorist activities (See Appendix A) revealed that Saudi Arabia and Jordan were exploited as venues 100-14 2 where Palestinians from Judea and Samaria met with handlers from abroad.

PhDr. Daniel Boušek, Ph.D. Poděkování Děkuji svému vedoucímu bakalářské práce doc. PhDr. Danielu Bouškovi, Ph.D. za pomoc, trpělivost i za cenné rady a čas, který mi věnoval. V Praze, dne 29. 7. 2017 Podpis Klíčová slova Sajjid Kašua, Arabové, hebrejská literatura, arabsko-izraelští spisovatelé, arabsko-židovské vztahy, Palestinci, Izraelsko-arabský konflikt, sociálně-politické podmínky, hebrejština Keywords Sayed Kashua, Arabs, Hebrew literature, Israeli-Arab writers, Jewish-Arab relations, Palestinian Arabs, Israeli-Arab conflict, Socio-political conditions, Hebrew language Abstrakt Cílem práce je popsat a analyzovat vnímání izraelsko-palestinské reality v románové tvorbě Sajjida Kašuy.
