An NBC Charlotte investigation found that half of the doors on campus are not made to lock from the inside. They also discovered some of the doors that do have interior locks do not work properly. “The lights are out. The doors don’t lock, but we do have them blockaded,” said a 911 caller on April 30. UNC Charlotte is in the midst of a six-month external review looking for ways to improve upon what most consider to be a response to an otherwise terrible day on campus. The doors, however, remain one of the loan security lapses. In the meantime, administrators are putting together lockdown kits to make sure that every door is secure and that people are safe in the short term. “Two simple devices: A Wedge-It and a cut First responders at the scene of April 30 shooting, photo by Chris Crews piece of fire hose,” Associate Vice Chancellor for Safety and Security John Bogdan told WCNC. in 2018 from Tiffany Parker, a kindergarten to one, she said.
