organised by Department of English and Languages AMRITA SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES, KOCHI About the Organiser This seminar is organised by the Department of English and Languages, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Kochi under the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (a University u/s 3 of UGC Act) at the Kochi Campus has distinguished itself as a premier centre of learning in the emerging areas of English and Languages, Commerce and Management, Computer Science, Visual Media and Communication.
The Department of English offers an Integrated M.A. degree in English Language and Literature with specializations in contemporary areas like culture studies, linguistics, English Language Teaching, Black Literature, Translation Studies and Postcolonial literature. The programme is designed to serve students who, for professional reasons, seek to continue their studies for eventual admission to a doctoral programme or to meet specific career objectives in the private, governmental, or academic sectors. The Department is endowed with learned and experienced faculty members and has extremely good infrastructure. Through uncompromising quality, our University has been accredited with the highest grade ‘A’ by NAAC, and has been ranked in the IVY LEAGUE of Indian Universities.
About the Seminar
The two-day seminar proposes to address issues related to the various domains to explore and pursue research in English Language and Literature. The seminar caters to research guides, research aspirants, research scholars and students of literature. The selected domains for discussion are the following:

Profile of Speakers
Dr. Ajaykumar P. P. is a professor in English who is presently acting as a special officer in Institute of Distance Education, Learners’ Support Centers, University of Kerala. He held various positions in IDE, including The Director of IDE of University of Kerala from 2008-2011.
Dr. W.S. Kottiswari is currently engaged in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at Mercy College for Women, Palakkad, Kerala. She is the Principal Investigator of UGC Major and Minor Research Projects on Women’s Studies, and the Organiser of the Research Centre for Comparative Studies. Dr. Latha R. Nair is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of English, St.Teresa’s College, Ernakulam. She is a Research Guide of M.G University, Kottayam and is a Resource Person for the Staff Academic Training Colleges (UGC) of Bharathiyar University and University of Calicut.
Dr. C.S. Jayaraman is a Professor in English and Visual Media at Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Kochi. He was a Professor in English, Sacred Heart College, Thevara. He is a professional with a special passion for visual domain, dramatics, music and film studies.
