There were a number who were appointed to General Officer Positions within the Trans-Mississippi Department late in the war when communications with Richmond were impossible or the central government could not act even though hostilities in the West required Command Positions to be filled. It is our pleasure to Honor and Commemorate these Honorable Men who served the Confederate States of America, of which Texas was a proud member. Bee, was born in Charleston, Matthew D. Ector was born in Punam County, South Carolina on July 22, 1822, and is the older Georgia, on Feb 28, 1822.
