BY TRAIN

Michelle Bloodworth Vice President, Business Development with America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) will present:

NATURAL GAS: THE NATURAL CHOICE NOW

Michelle Bloodworth, VP of ANGA, works with utilities, regulators and other business-to-business stakeholders to communicate the economic and environmental benefits of the increased natural gas use of clean, abundant, domestic natural gas. While Michelle formally joined ANGA earlier this year, she has been involved with ANGA since its 2009 inception by serving as co-chair of its Communications Committee and making significant contributions to the organization’s development through her position with Energen, an ANGA member company.

Michelle spent more than 20 years with Energen, most recently as Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Communications for Energen's Alabama Gas Corp. Her previous positions with Energen/AlaGasCo included Director of Residential, Industrial and Commercial Marketing; Director of Research and Development; Director of Power Generation and Distributed Generation Markets. Michelle was an officer and founding board member of the Council for Responsible Energy and served on the boards of the Energy Solutions Center, NGVAmerica and the Gas Technology Institute's Utilization Technology Development Program. She has been active on committees of the American Gas Association, the Southern Gas Association and the Southeastern Energy Society. Michelle’s experience in the natural gas industry includes strategic planning, sales and marketing, pipeline and supply project management, research and development, communications, economic development, and government relations. Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University.

GOLF

Independence Golf Club

One of the activities is a round of golf at the Independence Golf Club, home of the Virginia State Golf Association.

Independence Golf Club is designed by the world renowned Tom Fazio. The layout reflects the philosophy of Fazio, who sought to create a harmonious transition from existing topographical conditions. "Not a lot of earth movement was necessary, because of the natural terrain of the environment."

The format of our outing will be Captain's Choice, a great way for players of all skill levels to enjoy one of Richmond's newest and most upscale golf courses. Independence will challenge the best players, but the format and atmosphere ensure a good time for all.

TOUR & WINE TASTING ~ Welcome to Richmond

City of Richmond Guided Historic Tour ~ White House of the Confederacy ~Valentine Museum ~Wickham House ~ Museum of the Confederacy

Begin your day with a guided bus tour through the historic streets of Richmond. The four mandatory “must sees” of Richmond will be discovered. You will see and hear about the 400 years of Richmond history including, the James River Fall Line, St. John’s Church where Paul Revere gave his famous speech, the Fan District, Monument Avenue, the stair case in the Jefferson Hotel (was it in Gone with the Wind?), the Union spy and more.

Next, the day continues with a guided tour of the Wickham House and White House of the Confederacy and self touring of the Valentine Richmond History Center and the Museum of the Confederacy.

Intermixed in these activities, you will spend leisurely time in the luscious gardens of the Valentine Center enjoying lunch and tasting wine from two Richmond vintners.

The Valentine Richmond History Center’s Wickham House is a spectacular example of 19th century Federal architecture, and displays some of the country's finest examples of interior decorative painting. Listed as a National Historic Landmark, the Wickham House, built by John Wickham, illustrates the lives of one of Richmond’s most prominent families.

The Museum of the Confederacy has three floors of galleries containing the world's most comprehensive collection of artifacts, manuscripts, and photographs from the Confederate States of America. Be transported back in time as you wander past "Stonewall" Jackson's forage cap, J.E.B. Stuart's LeMat pistol, and Robert E. Lee's field tent. Learn about lesser-known topics like the daily lives of common soldiers, the Confederate Navy, and art from the period.

The centerpiece of the museum complex is a separate structure a few yards north of the museum building, across a shady, peaceful garden. The White House of the Confederacy was where Confederate President Jefferson Davis and his family lived from 1861-1865. Visitors today can tour 11 restored rooms in this early 19th-century mansion, one of the most richly appointed and historically accurate sites remaining from this dramatic period in American history.

Wine Tasting

James River Cellars, a family owned and operated winery offers award winning wines from Virginia grown grapes. Ray Lazarchic (principle owner) works with James Batterson (winemaker), Sebastian Nagy (viticulturist) and Mitzi Batterson (winery manager) to produce 15 varieties of distinctive flavors, including the Petit Verdot, winner of the gold medal Governor’s Cup for 2010 and Gewiirztraminer, gold medal winner for 2009.

Grayhaven Winery is one of the oldest independent commercial vineyards in Virginia, founded in 1978 by Lyn and Chuck Peple with the help of their daughters Jane and Max. What started as a retirement venture for the Peples steadily grew as a family business and remains family owned and operated. Grayhaven Winery was launched in 1995, producing hand-crafted wines from vinifera and French hybrid grapes.

Nestled in the heart of Virginia wine country, Grayhaven continues to produce “Old World” style wines that celebrate the many facets of varietal character expressed with each vintage year. Pinotage, Marechal Foch, Sauvignon Blanc, Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc, Traminette, and Cayuga are among the many estate-grown varieties.
