Nestled beneath Montecito’s purple hills, the 18-hole golf course at Birnam Wood offers year- round, matchless play. The course was developed by legendary golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., who called it a “thinking man’s course.” He considered Birnam to be one of his very best designs, describing the 80-acre links as “the best short course I ever built.” Each hole is challenging as well as exciting, and multiple tee sets provide an appropriate test for golfers of all skill levels. Members relish the ability to walk on the course without making a tee time, and Birnam’s challenging green complexes and strategic bunkering assure that strength alone does not carry the day.
Members enjoy access to our staff of highly qualified PGA teaching professionals, and master their game at our expansive practice facilities, which include a newly renovated driving range and a state-of-the-art indoor golf simulator. A full calendar of mixed events, tournaments and invitationals provide friendly competition throughout the year and round out the outstanding golf activities at Birnam Wood.

Much like the club itself, the guest cottages at Birnam Wood are truly a home away from home for members and their guests. The club’s 18 beautifully renovated cottages offer your guests all of the privileges of a private club while providing luxury and comfort no less that you would offer in your own home.
Our cottage accommodations range from a single bedroom to three-bedroom master suites complete with a living room, full dining room, and kitchen. A favorite for out-of-town members, the elegant yet modern cottages can be used for a brief visit or long-term stay.
