CHECKLIST - SIGN PERMIT APPLICATION

A completed application form;

Two (2) accurate, scaled elevation drawings of the sign. Drawings must include the height (from grade) of the sign and the width of the sign (radius where appropriate). In addition, the drawing must indicate the size of all lettering.

For Wall Signs: Two (2) pictures or drawings of structure's facade upon which the sign will be attached, indicating the dimensions of the wall, all architectural features on the wall, and the measurements of the sign, including the distance the sign is projected from the face of the wall.

For Ground Signs: Two (2) copies of the site plan, drawn to scale, showing all existing structures, property lines, setbacks, easements, all adjacent streets or rights-of-way and all existing and proposed signage on the property on which the sign is to be located. Must also include the distance from the sign to the property lines.

When the sign is installed, contact the Planning Department at 317-776-6325 to set up a Final Inspection.

B. Processing

1. Application must be date stamped on the date received.

2. Within five (5) business days of receipt of a fully completed application, a Sign permit will be issued, or the applicant will be notified by fax the reasons for permit denial.

3. Sign permit resubmittals may be submitted at any time and will be reviewed accordingly.

C. Fees

A $150 permit fee, $25 certificate of occupancy fee, and $1 per square foot of signage is due once the sign application has been approved.
