I cannot consider Rimini an objective fact. It is rather, and only, a dimension of my memory. (Federico Fellini, My Hometown)

Cities are built to accommodate people and foster relationships. Architecture follows:
hilosophy hilosophy
open and enclosed spaces laid out in a more p contextand or less orderly fashion. Cities interpret their role, favouring the needs of people. Dreams – in the sense of hopes, expectations and desires – are usually relegated to the role of “supporting actor”, if not cut out completely. Yet cities that fail to focus on dreams are incomplete, uncomfortable places full of “things” perhaps, but not full of life. Rimini interprets its future through the dreams of an all-time cultural genius: Federico Fellini. It does so thanks to a museum that isn’t just a museum, but a piece of a city with ambitions of utopia: it is creativity and the artistic process that enter and above all, exit from established spaces to run through the streets, the squares, the places where everyday life takes place. Federico Fellini International Museum, a unique museum complex on a global level, made up of solids and voids, is the matrix of an operation based on restoration and innovation that in an urban space covering just 400 metres physically blends the body and soul of four historical eras: the legacy of the Romans, the splendour of the Middle Ages and the impulse of the Renaissance, the torment and ecstasy of great musical melodrama until the arrival of the seventh art form, thanks to perhaps the most creative “dream-maker” of all time. On this mother slab, Rimini is planning and creating its horizon seeking in the celebration of culture on a daily basis the key to a new phase of development and identification with its memory. If the example of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is a precise benchmark in terms of the philosophy of the overall intervention, the uniqueness of the Rimini project is also clear, given that it is based on the ability of cinema – and of its Homer – to be the multidisciplinary glue linking the past and the present, classical art and contemporariness. 3 Major Cultural Heritage Projects

Fellini and Cinema On the ground floor of the Fulgor Casa del Cinema, two cinema rooms have been fitted out, including the historical one, and the foyer, which has been “production designed” in 1930s “Romagna-Hollywood” style by Oscar winner (and art director on several of Federico Fellini’s films) Dante Ferretti. Not part of the current project, the two cinema rooms opened, following completion of restoration work, on 20 January 2018. 18 Cultural Heritage Projects Federico Fellini International Museum AXIS 2 Casa del Cinema
Federico Fellini made Rimini a province of the soul, a legendary place. The story of this transfiguration begins at the city’s monument to Fellini, the Fulgor Cinema.
Fellini and Rimini The first floor of Palazzo Valloni will focus on studying and documenting
the relationship between Federico Fellini and his birthplace. Rimini, his description hometown, was a source of inspiration and a projection of his poetry, his images, his dreams, of all the marks of the Maestro’s work. The land of his birth is a sort of ancestral bosom that contained, guarded and protected the very essence of his artistic creation. Suffice to think of the numerous references in his films to his homeland; like the sea in winter in I Vitelloni or the large fresco in Amarcord.
