IMAGINE “2 DAYS OF LOVE & MUSIC” ON SEPTEMBER 4TH & 5TH with the Father of ‘69, Artie Kornfeld The ‘Spirit’ of Woodstock ‘69 Returns

July 6, 2010 (Toronto, Canada) – “Imagine all the people, living life in peace” are words written by John Lennon nearly 40 years ago. Today, 41 years after Woodstock ‘69, Co-creator and Father of Woodstock, Artie Kornfeld has a similar message.

“What we imagine today will turn into tomorrow’s reality,” says Kornfeld. I look forward to seeing everyone come together at IMAGINE in 2010 to join hands in this show of unity; with a purpose for a better, kinder world for our children and grandchildren than what they are now looking at. It is up to all of us to change the seeds of violence that erupted at the G20 Summit in the recent weeks and create peace for all. We may not make the definitive difference but we will start the change.”

On Saturday, September 4 th and Sunday, September 5 th , Artie Kornfeld along with visionary artist David Kam will host IMAGINE “2 DAYS OF LOVE & MUSIC,” a LOVE-IN festival at Downsview Park in Toronto. It is not surprising to organizers that far before any announcement of a music line up, excited festival followers continue to blog on social networks in preparation to travel miles from around the world to be at this important event.

“It was the ‘spirit’ and the ‘people’ that made Woodstock that summer of ‘69 and it will be the ‘spirit,’ the ‘people’ and the ‘desire for a new positive world’ that will make IMAGINE 2010,” says Kornfeld.

Tickets will go ON SALE JULY 8 th : 1-Day Ticket: $90; 2-Day Peace Lovers Weekend Pass: $120 (regularly $150) if purchased before July 15 th . All tickets are inclusive of taxes and fees and if purchased before July 15 th , will be entered into a draw to win Backstage VIP Packages. Also at the festival, The ‘IMAGINE GUITAR’ series will bring together some of the world’s most renowned visual artists with some of the world’s leading musicians with the goal of uniting humanity for social change. Top visual artists, including Damien Hirst and Jim Warren, will paint ten themed guitars donated by Carparelli Guitars in Canada.

Not one to shy away from unconventional media, Hirst, who rose to art stardom as one of the Young British Artists in the nineties, has since won the esteemed DAAD fellowship in Berlin and the Turner Prize. The Damian Hirst IMAGINE ‘No-Poverty’ Guitar will be auctioned with proceeds benefiting War Child.

Jim Warren is one of the most successful & versatile artists in the world today. The Jim Warren IMAGINE ‘Freedom’ Guitar will be auctioned with proceeds benefiting Amnesty International.

Guitars will be signed by world-renowned musicians and played during the re-recording of John Lennon’s inspirational song Imagine before being displayed in art galleries and museums and auctioned for charity. Each of the Imagine Guitars will be painted with a different theme: Peace, Love, Hope, Life, Charity, Sustainability, Compassion, Earth, No- poverty, and Freedom.

At the heart of the world unity gathering to create sustainable change will be an Electronic Global Village that will bring together schools, governments, businesses, non-profit organizations, leaders, artists and individuals from around the world to share ideas, form alliances, and take action to impact social change and save planet earth. This enormous Global Village connected by satellites, computers, cell phones, TV, radio, and social networks will allow millions of voices, once silenced, to finally be heard. In turn, the village will create a citizens managed fund to create jobs, end poverty, and save our planet.
