Baba says you are what your mind is, and mind is born once and dies once and in that sense there is no reincarnation. The mind plays lots of tricks, and when you go to sound sleep you wake up in the body, but after a deeper sleep the mind wakes up in another body.

The ideal is to experience such a sense of reality and purpose for oneself, if it is to be had. Many of those who have taken LSD trips are deeply affected by their experiences, regarding the use of psychedelics not only as a means of developing key insights into their own problems, but into the nature and purpose of creation as well. Certain individuals have become pioneers and in a sense prophets of the movement, largely as a result of the re- ligious and even mystic implications that appear to flow from use of the drugs. In this connection it is imperative to search for corroboration or refuta- tion of these implications from persons credited with a high state of spiritual development, through other disciplines. Meher Babe , of Ahmednagar, India, is such a one. Revered by millions throughout the world as a God-realized being and as Avatar of the age, he is doubtless the best non-acid authority available to compare the results of chemical stimulation of the deeper layers of being with those produced by techniques known and used throughout time by spiritual teachers. Through an unusual series of events, Meher Baba has captured the devotion and imagination of a number of young thinkers and experimentalists who have been in the early forefront of the psychedelic movement.

Although the Gospel of John belongs originally to the Christian tradition, this dissertation is a contribution to Islamic Studies, endeavoring to illuminate Ibn al-ʿArabī’s distinctive manner of reading religious texts and to highlight features of his negotiation of a dual heritage from Jesus and Muḥammad. To set Ibn al-ʿArabī’s thought against an Islamic backdrop and situate it in an Islamic context, this dissertation adopts the device of constructing a commentary, guided by seminal passages in Ibn al-ʿArabī’s written corpus, on an Arabic translation of the Gospel of John: the Alexandrian Vulgate, widely circulated in the Arab world during Ibn al-ʿArabī’s time. This amounts not only to a comparison between Johannine doctrines and Ibn al-ʿArabī’s doctrines, but also a comparison between the latter and historical Muslim commentaries on the Christian scriptures—particularly the Biblical commentary (in circulation by the thirteenth century) attributed to the famed Sufi theologian Abū Ḥāmid al-Ghazālī, and the fourteenth-century Muslim Biblical commentary by Najm al-Dīn al- Ṭūfī (d.

    Katie Videos – A Brief Introduction The tradition of story-telling is a large part of wisdom teaching the world over. Stories of the lives of past Avataric incarnations and their close disciples (Bible, Ramayana and Mahabharata), the so-called myths and fabricated stories of different cultures (Odyssey, King Arthur, Monkey, etc) as well as the histories of Saints and Masters (“Life of Milarepa”, “Muslim Saints and Mystics”, “Little Flowers of Saint Francis”, etc), have the intended effect of loosening the bonds of spiritual ignorance of those who are ripe for transformation. It is said that parables (“earthly stories with heavenly meanings”) make up about one third of the teachings of Christ; and many of the Jataka tales, which are accounts purported to be of His previous births in varied animal forms told by the Buddha, can have a similarly powerful impact on ignorance. To quote from the Introduction to Eruch Jessawala’s story collection That’s How It Was, “These incidents from Eruch’s life with Baba are not told to simply pass the time, but to help people get a better understanding of how to live with God and for God.” That is, to live the spiritual life, in the growing awareness of the greater Reality. Meher Baba has likewise told many stories, some retold by Eruch Jessawala (That’s How It Was), Bhau Kalchuri (Nectar for the Children) and others. The stories told by Meher Baba and his disciples will have a special significance, as they are the “fresh Quaker Oats”, for people living in these modern times.
