The inquiry into the Country Members Accommodation ignited an ICAC investigation into its practice by a number of regional MPs. Commissioner Bruce Lander would not disclose which three MPs are the subjects of the inquiry over the allowance and says he does not know how much money is concerned.

Wills says Jing Lee is a Liberal member of the Legislative Council who is likely to replace president Terry Stephens after the expenses issue but is opposed due to her ability to create links in with the Chinese community. He adds additional scrutiny is due to the Federal Government's decision to reevaluate all foreign agreements. Dayman says Peter Martin has discovered more MPs involved in the allowance scandal including Lynn Brewer, , Peter Treloar, and Michael Pengelly who all have different reasons. She states the ABC Investigation reveals how deep-seated the problem is. McClaren remarks ICAC's Bruce Lander says there should be a code of conduct for MPs and it will be up to Justice Ann Vanstone to pick up the case where he left off. Wills explains the SA Premier and SA Opposition Leader ' differing stances on dealing with MPs using parliamentary privilege to thwart the ICAC investigation. Wills states why presiding officer positions are coveted in the Lower and Upper House. [cont]

Another fee Adelaide Advertiser, Adelaide, Letters 29 Aug 2020

I AM responding to "Pet revenue boon", "Dog inspections" ("The Advertiser", Thursday) and "Council's paw and order stuns owner" (Wednesday).

With all the infill in Marion Council, and the diminishing open space for children to play on, the council could make a fortune from a child bylaw.

With a dog bylaw of $36 just to apply for a second dog, and a cat bylaw of $36 just to apply for a third cat, just imagine how much revenue could be made from charging $36 to apply for a second child?

I surely am glad that I don't live in Marion Council.

TALK about council exploitation for revenue ("Dog inspections", The Advertiser, Thursday).

Marion Council has missed out on extracting more money from its residents for fines from their cat-curfew bylaw after parliament quashed it.

So now they are after the dogs.

There is no ruling by the Dog and Cat Management Board that I know of to charge a fee to apply for a council permit to keep a second dog.

The ruling about the space required is not justified anyway, because one lonely dog is not a solution to barking.

Marion Council is becoming unpopular for its appalling exploitation of pets.
