Public Comments January 16, 2014 to January 28, 2014 I am writing as a citizen of the bay area. I feel that I am entitled to my constitutional right to express my opinion to the board of trustees regarding the usage of national parks land, as I visit and I donate to the national parks frequently. I strongly urge the Trust to select the sustainability museum or the Presidio Exchange, which are in keeping with the charter to serve the public interest. Before you consider financial self-sustainability as a strength, please consider how capitalism works--- capital is used to gain revenues and profits. The more capital someone has, the more they can earn based on that capital. The trust should not be subsidizing the rich, but should be helping to provide resources for the public good, for the 99% that lack capital to create wealth, and which lack access to the true "riches" of a strong community and clean environment, and a commercial-free, marketing-free existence. The board should fulfill its charter to provide land for the public interest that enriches the soul of the public, and should not bow to serve financial interests of capitalists or powerful politicians who just want to raise money for their re-election. I realize a grave concern is job creation. Please consider the facts and conduct research into the working conditions and the turnover among your applicants who would be "job- creators." Consider the fiscal motivations for storing so-called "museum" items on public land which are indivisible form a marketing franchise, charging admission to admire them, and utilizing vacant offices in Marin which used to be filled with employees before they were sold to disney and down-sized.

Famously, Lucasfilm Ltd. that he was happy to share top billing with the audio arm deployed M&K speakers for the entire audio workflow of of the Star Wars factory. • My Trip to Skywalker Ranch
1 My Trip to Skywalker Ranch By Daniel La Grou Skywalker Ranch was built by George Lucas. Construction for the ranch started in 1980. They completed construction in 1987. When the ranch was built they also planted a vineyard. The vineyard has three different kinds of grapes: Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet. The ranch is located on Lucas Valley Road in Marin County. Contrary to what you may be thinking, the road was actually named after a rancher in the 1800’s. When George bought the ranch he acquired 2700 acres. Today, the ranch has grown to 4700 acres. George Lucas is famous mostly for the Star Wars movies. He started the original Star Wars with a company called Industrial Light and Magic. Industrial Light and Magic is a company that specializes in special effects. After making the Star Wars Trilogy, there was a long period of silence. Then from 1999-2005 Star Wars returned. George Lucas was born in 1944 In Modesto. In1962 George was involved in a near fatal car accident. In 1967 he decided to join the Air Force as an officer but was turned down because of numerous speeding tickets. A short time later he married Marcia Griffin. He was then drafted by the Army but tests showed he had diabetes, the disease that killed his paternal grandfather. He went to college at U.S.C. and studied film making. His first major film was THX 1130. Then he went on to make Star Wars and build Skywalker Ranch. Tony Dorie March 22, 2001 STS145: History of Computer Game Design Henry Lowood LucasArts and Lucasfilm: A Good Deal for All Involved Introduction: George Lucas is the king over an empire. Over the last thirty-five plus years he has created some of the most recognizable characters of our time. These characters are so ubiquitous in America that they are almost burned into our collective unconscious; they are the archetypes of the modern era. The mention of Star Wars or Indiana Jones sets off the imagination, drawing people into the worlds Lucas has created. The music from both series of movies is immediately recognizable as are the names Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Indiana Jones and Obi-Wan Kenobi. While the movies made around these characters welcomed them to the world, their influence is also attributed to their extremely adept promotion. Additionally, most of the money made from these characters comes not from their movies but rather from their merchandise. The Star Wars series has spawned countless spin-offs, all of which serve to increase the public's awareness of them. There have been books, toys, comic books, clothing, radio shows, a Disneyland ride, food items, cartoons, novelties and over twenty-five computer and video games. The Indiana Jones series has been no slouch either, giving rise to toys, books, a television show, another Disneyland ride, comic books and its own set of computer and video games. It is easy to see that George Lucas is a very shrewd businessman. When the original Star Wars movie was made, he retained the rights to any merchandise and he has used those rights brilliantly.
