  • Mastodon Emperor of Sand
MASTODON EMPEROR OF SAND Every living creature must face the will and judgment of time. Ancient Greeks personified time in the form of the titan Kronos, father of Zeus, and Egyptians celebrated Heh as an abstraction of endless years. Famously, William Shakespeare lamented humanity’s immutable fate as “time’s subjects” in Henry IV. GRAMMY® Award-nominated hard rock band Mastodon ponders the nature of time on their eighth full-length album, Emperor of Sand, on Reprise Bros. Records. Threading together the myth of a man sentenced to death in a majestically malevolent desert, the Atlanta, GA quartet—Troy Sanders (bass/vocals), Brent Hinds (guitar/vocals), Bill Kelliher (guitars) and Brann Dailor (drums/vocals), and conjure the grains of a musical and lyrical odyssey slipping quickly through a cosmic hourglass. “Emperor of Sand is like the grim reaper,” admits Dailor. “Sand represents time. If you or anyone you know has ever received a terminal diagnosis, the first thought is about time. Invariably, you ask, ‘How much time is left?’” Since forming back in 2000, Mastodon have certainly made the most of their time. Most recently, their 2014 seventh offering Once More ‘Round The Sun bowed at #6 on the Billboard Top 200, marking their highest chart entry to date and second consecutive Top 10 debut following 2011’s The Hunter. Casting a shadow over pop culture, they received “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance” GRAMMY® Award nominations in 2007, 2014 and again in 2015. Their music blasted through the Academy® Award-winning comedy The Big Short, animated blockbuster Monsters University, and sci-fi western Jonah Hex starring Josh Brolin—for which the group composed the score.

  • Once More 'Round the Sun Song-By-Song
ONCE MORE ‘ROUND THE SUN SONG-BY-SONG “Tread Lightly” Troy Sanders: “I was personally very proud of it because I was able to mask a lot of thoughts metaphorically between my wife, my daughter, and myself. These were things we had talked about and experienced. It’ll only probably show itself to me personally, but I remember I was very happy to create a song that meant something on multiple levels for only those who are super close to me. Hopefully, the rest of the world will like it too. Brann’s chorus just killed it. I knew that would be the winner of the song. I want things to come across as meaningful and not just as cupcakes and sprinkles on top of a pretty jar of Play-Doh. We’re not a kids’ band. We’re trying to be men here. The word trying is the most important! That song will hold its substance for me personally as I listen to it hundreds and hundreds of times in the future.” Brann Dailor: “I love that opening riff. It’s super-driving and heavy. I couldn’t believe it when I heard Troy’s vocals over the top of it. I think he did such a good job. It’s one of my favorite moments of his. I picture him on top of a mountain. It’s got a total Game Of Thrones vibe. Troy sounds like a total badass. He delivered.” “The Motherload” Brann Dailor: “Lyrically, it’s personal. It’s not wanting to lose someone and the powers-that-be are trying to take that person away or the world is just against it.

Magazine (UK). CRACK THE SKYE innehåller följande låtar: 1. Oblivion 2. Divinations 3. Quintessence 4. The Czar (I) Usurper (II) Escape (III) Martyr (IV) Spiral 5. Ghost of Karelia 6. Crack The Skye 7.

  • Mastodon Blood Mountain Pdf Download Free Blood Mountain
mastodon blood mountain pdf download free Blood Mountain. The two-year long-wait is over, and those Mastodon fans encouraged but leery of the slicker production of Leviathan over Remission will be even more bemused, or downright bewildered, by Blood Mountain, the band's first foray into major-label territory since signing with Warner Brothers' Reprise imprint (after all, this was the label conceded to Frank Sinatra as his own when he threatened to leave it). Blood Mountain is everything fans both hoped for and feared. Mastodon has dug even deeper in its foray into prog metal, but without losing an ounce of their power, literacy, or willingness to indulge in hardcore punk, doom, and death metal. Like Leviathan, Blood Mountain is both melodic and downright raging in places. Matt Bayles is in the producer's chair once more and he's encouraged this Georgia quartet -- Bränn Dailor (drums), Brent Hinds (guitar and vocals), Bill Kelliher (guitar and vocals), and Troy Sanders (bass and vocals) -- to take it to the limit. And they have. Blood Mountain indulges and goes deep into the territory of prog metal beats and quests and spiritual revelations that have less to do with Tolkein-ism and more to do with Conan-ism. There are utterly beautiful melodic passages woven into the heaviness that are reminiscent of Thin Lizzy's dual guitar lyricism -- and the band has confessed to digging Phil Lynott and company. The vocals -- with guest spots from Neurosis' Scott Kelly, the Mars Volta's Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme -- are mixed way upfront and the number of sheer stylistic changes is dizzying.
