Co-Curricular Co-Curricular Assembly, the Middle Years Rock band perform during today's assembly CO-CURRICULAR NEWS Dear College Community, Summer Co-Curricular Assembly Today all boys who had been awarded the MVP for the various summer activities and sports were presented to their peers at the summer co-curricular assembly. It was great to have so many families at the event to celebrate the efforts made by all during the Co-Curricular program. A full list of award winners can be found on pages 2 and 3. Inclement Weather On Friday afternoon I made the decision to wait and see whether the cricket pitches would dry out in time for play on Saturday morning, as despite the heavy deluge, the sun was shining and the wind blowing, suggesting there was some chance of being able to play Saturday. When I got to Rostrevor Saturday morning, the pitches were still soft and I placed a notice on the Rostrevor website under Late Cancellations at 7.15am. Families are encouraged to check this section for changes that may occur to the suggested fixtures as all cancellations or changes to venues etc are communicated via this forum. You can find this on the Rostrevor College website by following the link from Boys Education – Co-Curricular – Late Cancellations. Click Here In other Co-curricular News: • Congratulations to all the boys presented as award winners at the summer co-curricular assembly • Year 10 Scott Hamatt and year 9 Samuel Snowball have been selected by SACA to play in the Fleurieu South cricket team for the SA Country Cup from December 05 to 09. • Noah McNamara year 8 (under 13), Paul Leombruno & Jamie Signorello both year 9 (under 14) have all been selected in their respective age group Boys State Futsal Teams which will play at the FFA Nationals in January 2017. If your son, be he a current or past scholar, has made any significant achievement in an activity outside of the College, please pass this on to me via email to [email protected] or by phone, so that I can include his achievements in the weekly newsletter.     The Globe Newsletter of Gleeson College Issue 21 / Friday 29 July 2016 2016 MELBOURNE ARTS TRIP > A Vibrant Learning Experience On Friday 8 July, a group of 20 Gleeson College Arts students and three teachers took the early flight to Melbourne and embarked on a four-day Arts Immersion Tour. The tour consisted of participating in a number of workshops and attending various performances at some of Melbourne’s most magical theatres! On our first day, the Performing Arts students either explored the city of Melbourne or went to the Melbourne Zoo (where Matilda Comley had a close encounter with a Lemur!), while the Visual Art/Design students attended a workshop to further their learning on the past 200 years of fashion design. Saturday morning’s itinerary included am amazing NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts) workshop for the Performing Arts students, while Visual Art/Design students explored the visual art for the day. That evening, students had the choice of watching a performance by Circus Oz under the big top, or attending ‘The Sound of Music’ at the majestic Regent Theatre. Both performances were fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed by all. On Sunday, the Performing Arts students attended a Circus Oz workshop which included juggling, acrobatics and trapeze artistry. The Visual Arts/Design students went along to the Crows vs Carlton AFL match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and then we all met back together in the evening to watch ‘Matilda’ the Musical. It was an astounding performance, full of laughs and hilarity (thanks to the comic and musical genius of Tim Minchin) and even a few tears.

After a 30-minute briefing, breathalyser test, and plenty of sanitising the group departed.
