Dreama Tolle Perry Fine Art 2013-2014 Workshops So those are the “facts” of where we will be staying. Think of it as your aunt’s B & B in the south of France and you will have a pretty good idea of what to expect:)) Bill and Corinne, the owners of Le Vieux Couvent and our hosts while staying there, are wonderful folks. Corinne is an inspiration in that this was her dream, and at the age of 50 she bought the Couvent and began the journey of turning it into what it is today. When she moved to France some 17 years ago, she didn’t even speak the language! She’s an artist in everything she does:) And Bill, an artist as well, is so knowledgeable and agreeable he makes everything feel easy:)) You’re gonna love ‘em! Dreama Tolle Perry Fine Art 2013-2014 Workshops Our Itinerary: A sample itinerary has been included below. There are so many wonderful places to visit within a short drive of Le Vieux Couvent--more time to enjoy the area--less time spent traveling there:)) Because we have use of the vans from the Couvent, we have great flexibility in designing our day--depending on weather and what we want to do each day, we can select what best fits the mood of the group:)) As typical of many places in Europe, getting around requires a lot of walking---sometimes with a lot of stairs involved as well, so please take that into account. Instruction by Dreama: Instruction, inspiration, and demoing in both oils and watercolor will be interwoven into our time there. My vision is for us to spend our oil painting time in and around the Couvent and make the most of our ventures out by using our watercolors and cameras for capturing the moment! What About Painting Gear...What You Will Need: Supplied for you: All oil paint and medium needed for oil painting. AND All items necessary for creating your own watercolor postcards while painting with me in France – including a water color journal:) Paint Your Dreams, LLC ! Dreama Tolle Perry Fine Art 2013-2014 Workshops You will need to bring: Favorite oil painting brush Panels or Stretched Canvas for Oil Painting A Wet Panel Carrier (I suggest those from http:// www.raymarart.com/) Palette Capped medium container Palette knife Portable Easel. I am taking my Art Box and Panel Easel, which you can see here. At 7 lbs., it’s my favorite traveling easel. Optional: sketch pad, pencil, additional watercolor paper Traveling to Le Vieux Couvent: Plan to fly into the Toulouse Airport. As the date nears, we will target a time frame to plan your arrival, so that you can join up with the group of artists in a timely fashion:)) IMPORTANT: Take note and make sure if flying from the US that you leave the day before you need to arrive as you will be flying into the night and “losing” a day! The Toulouse Airport is about a 90 minute drive from Le Vieux Couvent. You will be picked up and transported to Le Vieux Couvent. Travel Insurance: We recommend trip/travel insurance to all of our guests. It should be purchased ASAP--once you know you are going, and have made your deposit--plan on purchasing the trip/travel insurance. There are several good companies--here are a few links to the top companies for your comparison: http://travel-insurance-review.toptenreviews.com/ http://www.frommers.com/articles/6438.html Miscellaneous Faq’s: Please note there are cats on the premises Chimes sound from the church bell tower on the half hour, so if you are a light sleeper, plan accordingly:)) Our hosts at Le Vieux Couvent, Bill and Corinne, are originally from England and Canada and have lived in France for nearly 20 years, so they are wonderful in communicating both to you and on your behalf while in France. There are two pools for cooling off, so pack a swimsuit:) Paint Your Dreams, LLC ! Dreama Tolle Perry Fine Art 2013-2014 Workshops A Taste of Your Visit and Sample Itinerary Tour and paint the medieval towns and villages in the surrounding area. Visit the bustling market towns of Cahors and Sarlat. Paint on-site and benefit from Dreama’s personal attention (and harassment;)) Lose yourself in the blooming gardens. Share your experiences with other artists over aperitifs. Finish the day with a fantastic gourmet dinner. Some of the possibilities for our 10 days in France include: Sarlat—One of the most attractive and alluring towns in southwestern France. A city renowned for its architecture that illustrates the latest building styles of the late 15th century. The town resembles a Hollywood film set. The market will be crowded and vast, a visual feast. Labastide—Market and photo/painting opps St Martin de Vers—This tiny village has a bridge with a river running through that is very picturesque. St. Cirq la Popie—Simply magical! You will want to have your camera charged up and have lots of space on your credit card because this place is unbelievable for photography and for shopping. Rocamadour—an entire town built into the rock cliffs, with a pilgrimage dating back to the 8th century. Cahors—Great open air market and possibilities for lunch along the river (also has some great shops, including an art supply store if you need to pick up some supplies:) And more picturesque towns with names like Gigouzac, Autoire, Prayssac and the last but not least...the wine region! We drive high along the Lot river with panoramic views, then cross over and visit wineries on the plateau above the river. We'll taste some aging Cahors wines, then lunch at a popular "restaurant logis" in Prayssac, before returning via Les Arques. There will simply be no shortage of places to see, things that inspire, and timeless villages to paint and photograph. We will do our best to fit it all in:)))! Paint Your Dreams, LLC !
