Ringwood Town Youth 2015-16 Season - Newsletter #3 Ringwood Town Youth 2015-16 Season - Newsletter #3 Welcome to the third newsletter of the season at Ringwood Town Youth. We are now well under way for the season with games coming thick and fast. As most of you will have experienced it is now getting incredibly busy at Long Lane particularly on match day where we are setting new records with up to 13 home games on a single day. A lot of effort goes into the planning and scheduling of these matches to accommodate the league, pitch, referee, manager and opposition requirements so please do bear with us if there are last minute alterations or kick off times are not ideal. AFCB Ringwood Town Exclusive - October Soccer School As a linked Club Ringwood Town and AFC Bournemouth are once again teaming up to deliver a full day of football activities during October half term. RINGWOOD TOWN ATTEND PREMIER LEAGUE LAUNCH DAY Ringwood Town was selected to represent AFC Bournemouth at the Sky Sports Premier League launch event in London in August 2015. The players, from our successful U16 team from last season, attended along with Eddie Howe, Tommy Elphick and Chairman Jeff Mostyn. This is another example of the fantastic links being built between the clubs that we hope to make even stronger as the season progresses. U12 TEAM LOOKING FOR A GOALKEEPER The U12 Bournemouth team are urgently in need of a goalkeeper to join their team. If you know anyone who may be interested please let us know. As well as joining a vibrant team they can also benefit from the expertise of our resident goalkeeping coach Alec Wimbleton. U7 TEAM LOOKING FOR AN ADDITIONAL TEAM MANAGER Unsuccessful in your application to replace Brendan Rodgers ? Not prepared to travel to Sunderland to replace Dick Advocaat ? If so the solution may be closer than you think. We have two teams at Under 7 level but already have enough players attending training to create a third team. There are a bunch of committed and willing players looking for a manager to come and set up and run a team. If you are interested and can commit to running a team please let us know. RINGWOOD TOWN GIRLS TEAM - NEW SPONSORS Ringwood Town Girls Football team are pleased to announce new sponsors for the forthcoming season. For their inaugural season, all the U12 girls kit is supplied by Nomical Networks and the U13 girls training jackets will be supplied by Accolade Building Care Ltd., a local Ringwood company. On behalf of both football teams, huge thanks are extended to both companies. Recent growth means the girls now have two teams: U12’s playing in the New Forest Girls Football League (NFGFL), playing on Saturday mornings, managed by AJ Bessant and U13’s playing in the Dorset Girls league, playing on Saturday mornings, managed by Derek Pepperell. Other recent news from the girls team - they secured their first trophy during a recent tournament in June. The girls were extremely proud to have been placed 3rd having valiantly defeated a number of teams during the day. August also saw a 23 strong Ringwood Girls group inspired whilst attending the women’s FA cup final at Wembley, to watch Chelsea beat Notts County. This follows on from last season’s trip to watch England Ladies vs Germany. The club are actively seeking new players for the coming season (ages 8-13 years). For more information, please contact Derek Pepperell. STARS IN THEIR EYES Dave "Rod Stewart" Parkinson (manager of the Under 14's) has set up a fantastic evening's entertainment in support of Ringwood Town and Lewis Brimble (https://www.justgiving.com/lewistransplant/) There are 12 acts, all amateurs, that just like to sing at Karaoke's but are committed to this event to raise money for two good causes. CONTENTS Cover About the Book About the Author Title Page Prologue Dressing-rooms Superstitions Cars Defenders Tattoos Training grounds Clothes Volleys Team bus Droughts Celebrations Interviews Houses Transfers Music Abuse Headers Haircuts Goalkeepers Going Out Champions League vs FA Cup Endorsements Hotels Social media Gerrard Picture Section Acknowledgements Photo Credits Copyright ABOUT THE BOOK You become a footballer because you love football. And then you are a footballer, and you’re suddenly in the strangest, most baffling world of all. A world where one team-mate comes to training in a bright red suit with matching top-hat, cane and glasses, without any actual glass in them, and another has so many sports cars they forget they have left a Porsche at the train station. Even when their surname is incorporated in the registration plate. So walk with me into the dressing-room, to find out which players refuse to touch a football before a game, to discover why a load of millionaires never have any shower-gel, and to hear what Cristiano Ronaldo says when he looks at himself in the mirror. ABOUT THE AUTHOR First things first: yes I am very tall, no the weather isn’t different up here, and no I don’t play basketball. Glad that’s out the way. I’ve been a professional footballer for 20 years, have 42 England caps, have scored over 100 Premier League goals and hold the record for the most headed goals in Premier League history. I’ve been at a fair few clubs too, including Queens Park Rangers, Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Norwich, Southampton, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur, Stoke and England.
