11 ANSWERS HISTORY OF HUDDERSFIELD CHALLENGE 1) Castle Hill is a scheduled (nationally important archaeological site or historic building, given protection against unauthorised change) ancient monument in Almondbury overlooking Huddersfield. The hilltop has been settled for at least 4,000 years. The scheduled monument comprises the remains of a late-bronze Age or early Iron Age univallate hillfort with a single raised bank, a later Iron Age multivallate hillfort, a 12th-century motte and bailey castle and the site of a deserted medieval village. The grade II listed Victoria Tower on the summit of Castle Hill is by far the most conspicuous landmark in Huddersfield. 2) Harold Wilson who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1964-1970 and 1974-2976. Harold was born in Huddersfield on 11th March 1916. 3) Last of the Summer Wine. 4) John Hawsworth. 5) Greenhead Park and Beaumont Park. 6) After World War One, factories in Huddersfield built the LSD 3-wheel car. It is now commonly known as the rar- est car in Britain and resides in the Tolson Historical Museum.
