THE M25 MOTORWAY, THE M4 MOTORWAY AND THE M40 MOTORWAY (M25 JUNCTIONS 15 AND 16) TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the M25 Motorway, the M4 Motorway and the M40 Motorway, in the County of Buckinghamshire, the London Borough of Hillingdon and the Unitary Authority of Slough, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be – (1) to authorise the overnight closure of the following link roads - (a) the roads connecting both carriageways of the M25 to both carriageways of the M40 at M25 Junction 16 (M40 Junction 1a); and (b)the roads connecting both carriageways of the M25 to both carriageways of the M4 at M25 Junction 15 (M4 Junction 4b); and (alternatively), (2) to authorise overnight use of the hard shoulder adjacent to the roads described in (1)(a) and (b) above, and to impose an overnight temporary mandatory 50mph speed restriction on these roads and the adjacent hard shoulder when it is being used as one lane of these roads. These measures would be in the interests of road safety to enable contractors to undertake cyclical maintenance. It is expected that the work would take place for approximately 2 nights for each link road every three months on – Monday – Thursday nights – 22:00 to 05:30 Friday nights – 23:00 to 06:00 Saturday nights - 22:00 to 06:00 Sunday nights - 22:30 to 05:30 The Order would come into force on 14 February 2018 and have a maximum duration of twelve months. During the closures outlined above, traffic affected would be diverted via other junctions of the M25, M40 and M4. The diversion routes would vary depending on the closure in place. The link road closures, temporary mandatory speed restriction, use of the hard shoulder and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods.
