American Football Sports Specific Club COVID Plan

In line with the National Governing Body and the latest Government guidelines the Sports Specific Club COVID plan is subject to change and training is subject to cancellation.

In Line with the National Governing Body for (BAFA) It’s return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to:

Capacity / Grouping: • To accommodate Edge Hill Sport’s requirement for smaller groups (up to 6 participants) for activity capacity is 3 groups of up to 6 participants (totalling 18 participants) per half 3G pitch.

• A total of 30 for the full 3G pitch. However, they must remain wholly separate throughout the activity and must be separated by a 2m ‘safe zone’).

Equipment: • Each player should have their own set of flags which they will keep for the duration of the practice or game.

• Flags and belts should be sanitised at regular intervals during activity, and at the conclusion of practices or games by either the individual.

• Balls should be cleaned every 15 minutes (with a bucket of solution/spray and wipes).

• At the end of each practice or game, the Covid-19 Officer or Covid-19 Team Lead should ensure any other equipment which has been handled (such as cones) is sanitised.

Game Play: • Non-contact training should follow social distancing rules of 2m wherever possible. However larger groups of up to 20 players may breach social distancing guidelines if following the mitigating guidelines set out in BAFA’s Return to Play – For example when playing a game of at the end of a session when face to face contact would be fleeting in nature.

• No traditional contact activities (e.g. tackle or blocking practices, including the use of tackle bags or dummies) are allowed.

Athletics Sports Specific Club COVID Plan

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for Athletics (UK Athletics and Athletics) It’s return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to:

Awaiting confirmation of the restart of training by Liverpool Pembroke Athletics Club.

Capacity / Grouping: • Outdoor Max group size: 30

• Indoor activity for Over 18’s should be in groups of no more than 6 in a Covid-secure environment.

• Coaches and leaders should not be working with multiple groups across different areas of a facility.

In addition: •

Equipment: • Athletes should ideally bring their own equipment. Where shared equipment is used, this must be cleaned before and after use with a clear protocol, appropriate cleaning wipes and sprays in place.

• Hurdles can be used by a coach and athlete provided the equipment is thoroughly cleaned according to guidance before and after each session.

• Starting blocks should be used just by one athlete and thoroughly cleaned according to guidance before and after each session.

• The mat is cleaned in line with manufacturers and government guidance, before and after each group of up to 12 athletes.

• The landing pit is fully cleaned by turning and raking of the sand before and after each group, and rake between individual athlete/user.

• Equipment such as rakes and measuring tapes should be managed by dedicated individuals for a particular session – i.e. one athlete or the coach and cleaned between one athlete's series of jumps or between sessions.

• Coaches and athletes should ensure all equipment is used by one athlete and then thoroughly cleaned according to guidance before and after each session.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • In all cases normal coaching practice with risk assessment and high-quality practice should be adhered to as well as implementing any requirements around social distancing and hygiene.

Badminton Sports Specific Club COVID Plan

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for badminton (Badminton England) It’s return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to during training / game play:

Capacity / Grouping: • Maximum of 6 per group/court (therefore each sports hall has a maximum capacity 24).

• When a coach is in attendance, then the coach to oversee 3 courts with a max allocation per court of 5. The 4th court can still have a maximum of six players but cannot be coached by the coach. (Max Capacity – 21 plus coach)

• Players cannot switch groups / courts during a session. Players must stay within their allocated group during a session. A session only ends when all the players leave the hall and the next groups enter.

• Maximum 4 players on a court at one time. Any players not required on the court should stand 2 meters from the back of the court.

Equipment: • Shuttles are the only item of equipment permitted to be shared, however shuttles should only be shared between the maximum 6 players on one court.

• Players should avoid touching shuttles from another court. Players should avoid using their hands to pick up shuttles from other courts; where possible use your own racket to return them.

• Shuttles should not be reused on the same day for a different group/ session.

• Shuttles can be sanitised at the end of the session with spray for the next week.

• Avoid using/touching other equipment such as nets, posts, court mops where possible.

• Players must wipe down all equipment (inc. rackets) before and after use.

Game Play: • Player can play singles and doubles using all areas of the court – within the respective court markings.

• Players should not change ends.

Baseball Sports Specific Club COVID Plan

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for Baseball ( Federation) Its’ return to play has set out additional measures which the club needs to adhere to:

Capacity / Grouping: • Maximum of 30 including coaches.

Equipment: • Players must avoid sharing equipment and use their own helmet, glove, mitt, batting gloves, bat, etc. where possible.

• Sharing bats is discouraged. If shared, they must be disinfected between uses, and batting gloves worn.

• Ball Handling: Each team must use two game balls for use during defensive innings.

• Mixed slow-pitch only: these should be two 11” and two 12” balls.

• Each team must disinfect balls after warm-up and prior to each inning.

• After play session ensure all shared equipment (e.g. bases, team bats and balls) is collected and disinfected.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • If a player fails to reach base while batting, they must pick up their own bat (by the handle) upon leaving the field.

• If a player gets on base while batting, the on-deck batter must remove the bat (by the barrel).

Other considerations • Players must use hand sanitiser prior to warming up with equipment or the game itself.

• A nominated defensive team player on the side-lines (or an offensive player if short) responsible for sanitising balls before returning them into play.

• Balls used in tagged plays should be taken out of play and disinfected immediately by the defensive team before being returned to play.

• Umpires should not handle balls.

Basketball Sports Specific Club COVID Plan

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for basketball (Basketball England) Its’ return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to during training / game play:

Capacity / Grouping: • 6 per indoor facility

• Practice in small groups or ‘bubbles’ in training whenever possible, with groups working together throughout the session to reduce risk of transmission.

In addition: • All participants much have their temperature taken and recorded prior to entering the training facility (ensure screening is conducted in a suitable area away from venue entrances, ensuring good social distancing practices, i.e. far end of car park).

• Club must ensure they document participants temperature and responses to Basketball England screening questions (screening documents are to be temporarily kept within the club for 21 days after the session).

• Only essential coaching staff to run the session should be present, no observers etc.

• It is recommended that coaches and support staff wear face coverings.

Equipment: • No use of bibs unless brought directly by the players.

• Ball washing- wipe down with wipes prior to starting.

• Recommended to stop training and disinfect the balls every 20 minutes.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Players to wash or sanitise their hands every 20mins.

• Contact training to be limited to 20-minute intervals with clear breaks to clean down equipment.

Cheerleading Sports Specific Club COVID Plan

In line with the National Governing Body and the latest Government guidelines the Sports Specific Club COVID plan is subject to change and training is subject to cancellation.

In line with the recommendation Government guidelines and taking into consideration CheerSport England’s RTP teams are currently required to follow Edge Hill sport’s ‘Return to Student Sport - Covid-19 Plan Club and Participants Guidelines’ during training and taking note of the following guidelines.

Capacity / Grouping: • Maximum 21 participants per session.

• EHS are requiring a 3m x 3m designated area per participant (as recommended in the relevant government guidelines).

• This equates to 3 participants per 1 purple mat at any one time.

• Purple mats should be rolled out with a minimum 2-metre gap between each mat.

• Participants should be grouped and remain on the same mat for the whole session.

Equipment: • Face masks should not be worn by participants while participating in sporting activities.

• It is recommended that coaches wear a face mask.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • No contact is allowed currently – Follow Edge Hill’s sports guidelines.

Cricket Sports Specific Club COVID Plan

In line with the National Governing Body and the latest Government guidelines the Sports Specific Club COVID plan is subject to change and training is subject to cancellation.

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for cricket (English Cricket Board) Its’ return to play currently state that is not permitted.

Capacity / Grouping: • Maximum of 30 participants in 11-a-side outdoor Cricket can return as long as groups are limited to a maximum of 30 participants, including coaches and officials.

In addition: • Clubs and groundskeepers should mark running lines on the square in line with the popping crease at 2m+ intervals on either side of the pitch.

• Bowlers should not hand any personal items to the umpire. Bowlers should place these items at the boundary themselves.

• Batters are to run in distinct running lines to ensure they are not within 2m of the bowler or other batter. Lines to be marked on the square on either side of the wicket.

• If two scorers are required, social distancing must be maintained with only one official inside the scorers’ box and no players to be allowed in the scorers’ box. The scorers’ box should be well ventilated.

Equipment: • Where possible players should limit sharing of equipment. If they do, they must practise strict hand hygiene before and after use and the equipment must be cleaned before use by another person.

• Regular cleaning of equipment and the facility should take place, particularly between one group finishing, and the next group starting.

• A ‘hygiene break’ should take place every six overs or every 20 minutes, whichever is sooner, in which the ball is cleaned with an antimicrobial wipe. This routine should also be followed at the start of any drinks break or the close of an innings.

• Batters to sanitise their bat when leaving the field of play and Wicket Keepers should sanitise their gloves.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Where 1m+ is permitted: 1) Wicket keepers standing up to the stumps 2) Distance between slip fielders.

• The responsibility for sanitising the ball during the match will lie with the fielding captain, not the umpire.

Other considerations • Participants should enter the site and prepare their personal equipment whilst maintaining social distancing.

• Participants should clean hands with a suitable sanitiser prior to the start of the activity, every six overs or every 20 minutes, whichever is sooner, at the start of any drinks break or the close of an innings and after the activity is finished.

• Players should refrain from spitting or rinsing out their mouths.

• No sweat or saliva is to be applied to the ball at any time.

• Participants should exit whilst maintaining social distancing.

Other considerations: • Water bottles or other refreshment containers should in no circumstances be shared. Participants are advised to bring their own drinks or refreshments, in a named container.

Capacity / Grouping: • No group larger than 6 including coach.

In addition: •

Equipment: • A minimum of three sanitised balls will be made available for each match. If a ball hits a player in the face it should be sanitised immediately.

• A hygiene break will be enforced at half time to allow for hand sanitisation, and bench and match-ball cleaning.

• Resin can be used but rations should not exceed one tub per 5 players.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • No Contact allowed.

Other considerations • All non-playing staff are required to wear face masks. Players not on the court or participating in the game should also wear face masks.

• Minimise the amount of time in close contact i.e. players should split quickly after a tackle and keep face-to-face time to a minimum.

Hockey Sports Specific Club COVID Plan

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for Hockey (England Hockey) Its’ return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to:

Capacity / Grouping: • A maximum of 30 people is allowed in one group as long as social distancing can be maintained outside of training.

In addition: • Venues will ensure that all accessible provision within the site and the facility are available.

• The disinfecting of pitches between sessions is not identified as a requirement.

Equipment: • Balls should be left for 72 hours or should be disinfected before and after use.

• Use your own protective equipment or disinfect before use (e.g. facemasks).

• The sharing of equipment must be avoided where possible. Where equipment is shared, equipment must be cleaned before use by another person.

• Participants should take their kit home to wash it themselves, rather than have one person handling a large quantity of soiled materials.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Socially distance when play stops.

Other considerations:

• The nature of hockey means that the ball is very infrequently handled. Where the ball goes out of play it should be retrieved by players using their stick or feet.

• Avoid running training exercises that involve overly repetitive close contact between players.

• In all settings before and after the session, during team talks and, in any breaks, all participants should practise social distancing.

• Avoid shouting excessively.

• Participants will be encouraged to refrain from spitting or rinsing out their mouths on or around the playing area. Chewing gum should be banned.

• Where kit absolutely has to be shared or kept together (e.g. last-minute stand in players, shortage of kit, or an essential club function), each person handling it must wash or sanitise their hands immediately after and appropriate cleaning arrangements for the kit must be made.

• In all settings before and after the session, during team talks and, in any breaks, all participants should practise social distancing.

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for Netball (England Netball) Its’ return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to:

Capacity / Grouping: • 6 per court indoor including coach.

In addition: • Outdoor strongly recommended where possible. Indoor should only be used where an outdoor alternative is not possible.

• Passing between multiple players with multiple during training practices should be kept to a minimum.

• Two bags or containers for netballs may be required to ensure ‘dirty’ and ‘clean’ netballs are clearly identifiable.

• Regular breaks for hand and equipment sanitisation. Hands must be sanitised upon arrival at the netball activity. Breaks should be scheduled at least every 15 minutes to allow for hands to be sanitised in both netball training and netball activity.

• All players, coaches, officials and other attendees must sanitise their hands as they leave.

• Players should be reminded of social distancing regularly during the netball activity.

Equipment: • Equipment sharing permitted, but limit where possible. Where possible encourage players to bring their own ball to training sessions.

• Balls should be sanitised prior to activity. During matches, multiple balls may be required so that they can be replaced at regular intervals during the match (recommend quarter and half time).

• Bib options:

• Use of bibs inside out if positions are changed with stickers to mark position.

• Use of large stickers that can be attached to playing kit and are disposed of once finished or move position (similar to those that are used during trials).

• Use face paint or washable, non-toxic pen with position marked on arm or thigh.

• Netball posts should be sanitised before and after activity.

• All equipment must be sanitised after all netball activity, including the previously mentioned equipment and other items such as spots, ladders and cones.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Friendly matches permitted.

• Players and active umpires do not need to wear face masks.

• Removal of idle interactions – Players not engaged in play or who are stood still are required to be positioned 4ft away from another player. This frequently happens on the circle edge, on the transverse line, whilst walking back to centre pass and returning to the team bench at the end of a quarter- managed by umpires and supported by players and coaches.

• Contesting for the ball is very much permitted providing players are involved in the phase of play.

Other considerations: • In games/practices within training sessions or matches, sharing of whistles is not permitted.

• Any coaches, table officials, non-playing team bench, first aiders should wear a non- surgical face mask for indoor netball activity. Playing and active umpires do not need to wear face masks. This should be checked upon arrival.

• Temperature testing may be advisable using IR thermometer for indoor netball activity.

• Additional time should be allocated for arrivals to avoid congestion or bottlenecks within more confined indoor spaces. Government guidance around use of indoor sports facilities should be read.

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for (Rounders England) It’s return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to:

Capacity / Grouping: • Between 7-12 players

• Players / Coaches / Umpires / Substitutes must not exceed the recommended gathering of 30 people at any one time.

Equipment: • Competitors must avoid sharing equipment if possible.

• Although it is recommended that players do not share bats. If bats must be shared, they should be disinfected between each use and numbered so that the same two people use them.

• Each team must bring / be provided with two game balls for use.

• Equipment disinfectant/wipes for personal and team equipment must be used before, during and after play and warm up.

• Balls must be disinfected before and after each innings.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Social distancing should always be maintained.

• Apart from irregular fleeting passing there is no reason why the recommended 1m+ social distancing cannot be maintained throughout a game of Rounders.

Other considerations • Hand sanitiser must be used before, during (after each innings) and after play and warm up.

• The 2m Social distancing rule is only to be breached in the circumstances required on the field of play.

Capacity / Grouping: • Max 30 per pitch including coaches: pods of 15 per week for medium risk activity; opposed non-contact training including Touch RL .e.g 2v1, 3v2 left v right as long as no shoulder contact is made.

Equipment: • Equipment cleaned / sanitised before after session. Also cleaned / sanitised after medium risk activity.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Limited to 40 Minutes of medium risk activity and 15 within a pod each week (can't change during week) (Total maximum duration of session is 60mins – maximum duration of medium risk activity is 40mins limited to groups of 15).

• Examples of Medium Risk activity: • Training activities whereby players are within 1m of each other.

• Non-Face-to-Face for greater than 3 seconds, or Face-to-Face for less than 3 seconds.

• Reduce Face-to-Face encounters as much as possible. Limit to less than 15 minutes of accumulated exposure, otherwise becomes increased risk.

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for Rugby Union (RFU) It’s return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to:

Capacity / Grouping: • Minimum half standard size rugby pitch per 20 player group. (maximum of 30 players per whole facility).

• Can have more groups in the other half but must have 2m gap between areas.

In addition: • Head guards and shoulder pads must not be shared during sessions. Any protective clothing such as head guards and shoulder pads must comply with World Rugby guidance.

Equipment: • Any equipment such as tackle pads, shields, bags should be cleaned and sanitised after each individual player use.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • No scrum, maul, opposed lineout, or upright tackling.

• Maximum duration of 15 mins adapted contact activities (players in groups of 6) including team play activities (Touch / Ready4Rugby) max 20 players per half pitch.

• Avoid face to face exposure of more than 3 secs and more than 15 mins of exposure at less than 1m with another player.

• Examples of adapted contact Rugby:

• Tackling: . Waist or below; 1v1; tackle bas etc. sanitised after each player use. . No upright tackles.

• Ruck: . max 2v2 including tackler and ball carrier.

• Lineout: . unopposed; limit lifter and jumper face to face (less than 3 secs).

Capacity / Grouping: • Max number of swimmers is 6 per lane (this number includes coach therefore 5 per lane if coached); can't change group during session, ideally should remain in same group each week.

In addition: • The coach can coach multiple groups per session; Define areas to walk for coach.

• Coach positioned perpendicular to swimmers (swim length coach positioned along length); Defined areas for coach to walk.

Equipment: • No sharing of equipment.

• Any personal equipment should be cleaned before / after - during can be dunked into pool.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Social distancing maintained no physical contact.

• Swimming will lead to a breath being blown out above water. Being mindful of how your face is positioned when exhaling should be considered. Not when passing another swimmer.

• When considering session planning, coaches should consider: • Time that athletes have spent out of the water. • No competitive racing opportunities are available imminently. • How excessive heart rate will impact on the explosiveness of exhaling.

Other considerations: • The avoidance of the skills, drills and tactical practices listed below is recommended: • Start practices whilst social distancing is still in place, to avoid repeated touching of blocks, poolside steps etc. • Race pace practice. • Excessive heart rate intensity. • Hypoxic training.

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for Table Tennis England return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to:

Capacity / Grouping: • Individuals to train in bubbles of 2-6 people across 1-3 tables, with no more than two people on each table at any time.

• Players in a bubble of six can play with any other player in that bubble, but not from players outside of their bubble in that session.

In addition: • There can be multiple bubbles in a hall at any one time, as long as the following conditions are met; • A coach needs to form part of a bubble; therefore, five players and one coach would make a bubble of six. • Currently a coach cannot oversee multiple bubbles. • Players cannot change bubbles within the same session – they must stay within their allocated bubble but can play in a different group at the next session (as long as this is not on the same day). • All tables used are separated by partitions/barriers/nets wherever possible, unless in a one table venue and no-one else is present in the playing hall.

• There should be no more than 4 players per table (on a badminton court sized area) therefore if 5 (coached) or 6 (uncoached) in a bubble there must be two tables for that bubble.

Equipment: • Players use their own bats and equipment.

• Balls should be washed regularly to minimise risk (this has been adjusted from the previous advice about using different balls for each player).

• No hand wiping on the table.

• Tables should be cleaned and wiped dry using 2-3 sprays of a diluted soapy water solution.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Singles play only - Doubles play is currently not permitted.

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for Tennis (LTA) return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to:

Capacity / Grouping: • Both singles play and doubles play is permitted with people from outside of your household, if you remain 2 metres apart as far as possible – meaning that four people from different households can play doubles.

• No more than 12 players on one full-size tennis court and surrounding areas at any one time, in order to ensure social distancing can always be maintained.

• For indoor courts groups must be no more than 6 people. People can not cross groups during the session.

Equipment: • Equipment such as rackets should not be shared, but where this happens ensure thorough cleaning before and after use.

• Players must not share items such as towels.

• Only take the minimum amount of equipment with you that you need to play. Bring a full water bottle, clean before and after use and do not share food or drink with others.

• If using shared balls then extra care must be taken to ensure you do not touch your face during play, and you should clean your hands before play and immediately after finishing (use alcohol gel if required).

• Players should avoid using their hands to pick up tennis balls from other courts where possible - use your racquet/foot to return them as those players may have decided to use their own marked tennis balls.

• Avoid using other equipment such as courtside benches, net handles or court sweepers where possible.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Do not make physical contact with other players (such as shaking hands or high five).

• Avoid chasing the ball down to another court if other players are using it.

• For doubles, consider agreeing in advance which player will take the shot if a ball travels to the centre of the court.

• Players are advised to limit their interactions with anyone outside of the group they are attending the venue with (e.g. players on another court or in a different coaching group).

Other considerations: • Allow others to leave before you enter the court - if you need to wait then do so away from the courts and clear of the gates. Ensure you leave the court before the end of your allotted time so that it is empty for the next players. Avoid congregating on or around the court after playing to allow access for others. Play is permitted on both outdoor and indoor courts.

• Hand hygiene is imperative – use hand sanitiser at intervals if you have to touch communal surfaces or after touching any court gates, fences, benches, etc, and avoid doing so where possible.

In line with the National Governing Body (NGB) for Trampoline (British Gymnastics) It’s return to play has set out additional measure which the club needs to adhere to:

Capacity / Grouping: • 16 per session plus coach

Equipment: • Mats: wipe with detergent and sanitiser (enough time for sanitiser to activate - or use detergent and frequent hand washing) - cleaned between sessions.

• Tramp Bed: a mild soap solution (suitable for nylon), but it is important that the bed dries on the frame whilst unfolded at the end of day (can’t be used when wet).

• The vinyl surrounds can be wiped and disinfected using the same method as vinyl- covered safety mats - cleaned between session.

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • Spotters should be 2m+ away from each other and gymnast. Maximum 4 spotters per trampoline (1 in each corner), specific waiting area if not spotting (rotate).

• If swimming fitness is undertaken must follow Swimming Return To Play. (Maximum 6 swimmers per lane, having a coach would reduce this to 5 per lane).

In addition: • Individuals having own space in pool, practicing movements, jumps, treading water, sculling. • Must always be social distanced or follow swim guidelines.

Equipment: • No (ball required for each participant, no passing (rebounds from walls etc only; any shooting unopposed (player must collect own ball); targets can be used).

Game Play/ Medium risk activity: • No Game play activity

• Training should focus on technical drills, which can be performed on the spot and athletes should adhere to social distancing guidelines.

• Avoid: • Scrimmages of any size (game play) of any type. • Contact drills, marking, offensive/defensive manoeuvres. • Shooting with a goalkeeper.

Other considerations: • Hats not required but can be used for safety purposes and should not be shared between players and be cleaned after each session.
