Locally, we also have cause for celebration, delivering our 25th annual DIA SA/NT Design Awards. We celebrate not merely due to this longevity, but FROM because collectively we have been working together over this time making our industry stronger and furthering the understanding and acceptance of design, as a requirement for many things in the greater community. Locally and nationally we have been working on changes for the future within the DIA and with all things, it takes time. Meanwhile we present a survey of wonderful works this year, seeing over 70 entries from a variety of disciplines including many multi skilled designs, crossing boundaries between these disciplines. As an industry I feel we have grown and what may have been illusory boundaries are being dismantled, with practices and individuals taking a larger holistic approach to their works. The Design Institute of Australia continues its THE commitment to celebrating design excellence through our Awards program – along with other initiatives such as Live Design and our GOTYA, Graduate of the Year program – we strive to shine a light on the world class contribution of local designers. Over the past 25 years, many awardees have gone on to win national and international acclaim, engaging a much larger audience than our local community. As a group we now have a much stronger voice in our community. As we look forward we also take this opportunity to look backwards and introduce some of our local icons of design. PR ESIDE N TThank you to everyone whose effort has contributed to our awards and our industry. Thanks also to all those who entered our 25th awards and congratulations to all the recipients of awards.
