However, students will need to show an IGO pass to travel at the concessionary (reduced) fare. If students do not have an IGO pass, they will have to pay a higher fare. Most of the journeys shown in this timetable are funded by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). The majority of TfGM funded services charge a standard fare and also offer daily return tickets. In some cases, the return ticket can also be used for travel on other journeys which serve similar areas – even if it is provided by a different operator. On most services, students can also buy a weekly scholar’s ticket, which costs £7.40. These are ONLY valid on schooldays on school buses and are available from the bus driver on all services where they are applicable. To help the driver, please try to have the correct fare when buying your ticket. A summary of fares and ticketing information on all school services included in this timetable can be found at http://www.tfgm.com/journey_planning/Pages/back-to-school.aspx There are also a small number of TfGM funded services where the operator sets the fares. You will need to check with the operator what fares are available. Yellow School Buses This timetable also shows the journeys operated by Yellow School Buses. Yellow School Bus journeys have special travel conditions and can only be used by students who hold a Yellow School Bus pass which is valid for that journey. Students who wish to use a Yellow School Bus should go to http://www.tfgm.com/buses/yellowschoolbus/Pages/default.aspx for details on how to apply for a pass. The IGO Pass All students between the ages of 11 and 16 need an IGO pass if they wish to travel at the concessionary (reduced fare) rate on buses. The IGO pass is like an ID card and proves that the student is aged 16 or under. It must be carried on all journeys and shown to the driver before paying the fare. The IGO pass costs £10 and can only be bought by students who live, or go to school in Greater Manchester. More information on IGO and an application form to get an IGO pass is on the TfGM website at http://igo.tfgm.com (Please note: students who are entitled to a free Scholars Travel Pass for journeys between home and school and students aged between 16 and 19 who have a Scholars Concessionary Pass, do not need an IGO Pass for these journeys) Wigan Schools 2019/2020 3 25-Jun-19 Bedford High School 0830-1450 Effective 2 September 2019 Plus alternate Wednesdays at 1350 instead of 1450 The following bus services run close by - more details can be found at www.tfgm.com: Stagecoach service 34 – Leigh, Astley, Boothstown, Monton, Pendleton, Manchester Vision Bus Ltd service 553 – Bolton, Boothstown, Higher Green Diamond service 126 – Leigh, Astley, Boothstown, Worsley Diamond service 694 – Leigh, Blackmoor, Astley, Tyldesley Diamond service 695 – Bolton Royal Hospital, Little Hulton, Walkden, Mosley Common, Tyldesley, Astley Additionally specific schoolday only services also serve the school as follows: Hag Fold / Atherton / Howe Bridge / Lilford Service 935 TfGM Contract: 0310 TfGM Contract: 0310 0310 Minimum Capacity: 62 Minimum Capacity: 62 62 90 Operator Code: JSC Operator Code: JSC JSC TYR NW AW AW Hag Fold, Spa Road turning circle 074 1 Bedford High School 1500 1500 1400 Atherton, Market Street 0756 Leigh, The Avenue 150 9 150 9 140 9 Leigh, The Avenue 080 4 Atherton, M ealhouse Lane 151 8 151 8 141 8 Bedford High School 08 14 Hag Fold, Spa Road turning circle 1531 1531 1431 Service 935 route: From Hag Fold, Spa Road turning circle via Spa Road, Devonshire Road, Oxford Road, Warwick Road, Somerset Road, Car Bank Street, Formby Avenue, Gloucester Street, York Street, Bolton Road, Church Street, Market Street, Leigh Road, The Avenue, Holden Road, Manchester Road to Bedford High School. • Housing Needs Assessment Sub-Area Profiles
Housing Needs Assessment 2020 Sub-Area Profile Wigan Council Housing Needs Assessment Affordable Housing Need – Wigan Sub-Area Profiles 1 Housing Needs Assessment 2020 Sub-Area Profile Executive Summary Introduction The Wigan Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) 2020 provides the council with up-to-date evidence to support the local plan and its future development. It also provides detailed, robust, and defensible evidence to help determine local housing priorities and to inform the council’s new housing strategy. This research provides an up-to-date analysis of the social, economic, housing, and demographic characteristics of the area. The HNA identifies the type and size of housing needed by tenure and household type. It considers the need for affordable housing and the size, type, and tenure of housing need for specific groups within the borough. The HNA (2020) incorporates: • extensive review, analysis, and modelling of existing (secondary) data. • a comprehensive household survey (Primary Data) • interviews with estate and letting agents operating within the borough; and an online survey of stakeholders. The evidence base for the housing needs assessment (HNA) has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the February 2019 National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and associated Planning Practice Guidance (PPG) and the findings provide an up-to-date, robust, and defensible evidence base for policy development, in accordance with Government policy and guidance. Considering the forthcoming new affordable homes programme Wigan Council are keen to see the affordable housing needs of the borough considered when registered providers are seeking to bring forward new schemes. Our HNA provides us with robust data at a sub area level which should allow us to shape the affordable housing offers in each of these areas and meet our defined housing needs.

  • Ruth Winston Community Centre Newsletter No.26
RUTH WINSTON COMMUNITY CENTRE NEWSLETTER NO.26. Autumn Edition 2020 Unfortunately, we are again in lockdown and so we will try to bring you a newsletter once every two weeks. Therefore, please send me or Liz any news you have. If you send direct to me my email address is [email protected]. We cannot accept videos because everyone is not on email. So, looking forward to receiving some interesting news from you. We all love baked beans and probably find them a good standby, when we don’t know what to have for a meal. So here is a short history of them. In 1886 Heinz Baked Beans were first sold at the Fortnum & Mason department store in London. After opening the first overseas office in London in 1896, the company opened its first UK factory in Peckham, south London, in 1905. This was followed by a second factory at Harlesden, north-west London in 1919. Production was started at a former munition’s factory at Standish near Wigan in 1946. A new factory opened in Kitt Green, also near Wigan, in 1958. Between 1941 and 1948, the Ministry of Food classified Heinz Baked Beans as an “essential food” as part of its wartime rationing system. The Heinz factory in Kitt Green is one of the largest food factories in Europe, and produced more than 1 billion cans of food every year. In the United States, Heinz Baked Beans had for many years only been available as grey imports in “British Goods” speciality stores. As of October 2016, they are now available as official imports in many US supermarkets and speciality stores, with a label similar to the older British label, but customised for the US market (US spelling and US Nutrition Facts).

  • Admission to Secondary School Booklet 2010-2011
Admissions to secondary school in 2010-2011 Children and Young People’s Services Progress House Westwood Park Drive Wigan WN3 4HH Dear Parent or Guardian This booklet tells you about the arrangements for transferring children to secondary school for the school year beginning in September 2010. This is an important time for parents and children and we want to help as much as we can. This booklet contains a lot of information which I hope will help you make your application and, whenever possible, avoid disappointment. It is important you take the time to read all the information carefully before you apply, even if you have already decided which schools you prefer. We will try to give you your preferred school, but schools have a limited number of places. If we receive more applications than places, we use our admission criteria to decide who will get a place. The admission numbers and admission criteria for Wigan schools are given in this booklet. Our website at www.wigan.gov.uk has a link to school admissions and other useful sites. You can use this site to apply for a secondary school place on-line. There are more details about this in the booklet. Each school also produces its own prospectus which contains a lot of information about that school. It is useful to visit schools before you apply, and most schools will be holding open days or evenings in September or October 2009. If you cannot go to these or want any information about individual schools, please contact the headteacher at that school, who will be pleased to help.
