Chi arriva e vede Bergamo per la prima volta non può non pensare che buona parte della sua storia sia riposta nella splendida città costruita sul colle. Ed è proprio così: lassù sono concentrati ben 2.500 anni, tanti ne corrono dalle tracce dei primi abitanti che risalgono al quinto secolo a.C. ad oggi. Una vicenda appassionante e alla quale continuano ad aggiungersi altri particolari via via che nuove indagini archeologiche rivelano dettagli della città più antica. Non è un caso perciò che proprio Bergamo Alta offra al visitatore la possibilità di compiere una straordinaria escursione unendo alla bellezza dei monumenti e dei luoghi, la scoperta del passato. Per farlo suggeriamo di incominciare con la funicolare che da Bergamo Bassa (la stazione di partenza è dal viale Vittorio Emanuele) porta alla Città Alta. Un breve percorso che consente di osservare da un punto di vista particolare lo sviluppo di Bergamo: la città moderna al piano che si è sviluppata soprattutto negli ultimi decenni e quella antica in alto, circondata dalla formidabile cerchia di mura che Venezia fece costruire nel ‘500. Una volta arrivato, all’uscita il visitatore è accolto da uno spazio scenografico che sembra formato da quinte teatrali. Il Sebino, noto anche come Lago d’Iseo, è uno specchio d’acqua che invita a godersi le belle giornate di sole. Si può passeggiare e compiere escursioni, mountain bike compresa, lungo le sponde; si può andare in barca o praticare la vela; si può andare alla scoperta del lago con uno dei comodi e accoglienti battelli che fanno la spola da un paese all’altro; e non è da trascurare, inoltre, la possibilità di gustare, al tavolo di una trattoria oppure al ristorante, piatti e prodotti tipici: dal pesce di lago all’olio d’oliva di qualità (quello del Sebino è giustamente famoso) all’ottimo vino (la Val Ca- lepio è a due passi). Vent’anni fa o poco più il Sebino veniva presentato al turista come un tesoro nascosto da svelare; oggi lascia scoprire i suoi segreti a chi lo vuole frequentare anche solo per poche ore. Per 16 giorni, dal 18 giugno al 3 luglio 2016, il Lago d’Iseo viene ripensato artisticamente da Vladimir Yavachev, noto come Christo che con le sue opere interviene sul paesaggio, modifi- candolo in maniera provvisoria. L’ardita Land Art di Christo sul Lago d’Iseo prevede, appena sopra la superficie dell’acqua, un pontile galleggiante modulare, composto da 200.000 cubi di polietilene ad alta densità, che copre una superficie di 70.000 mq inscintillante tessuto giallo che segue il movimento stesso delle onde del lago. La passerella pedonale lunga 3 km si estende sull’acqua del Lago d’Iseo grazie a pilastri di 16 mt di larghezza e circa 50 cm di altezza con lati inclinati che consentono appunto di “fluttuare” sulle acque del lago. I visitatori possono sperimentare l’opera d’arte, camminando su di essa da Sulzano a Monte Isola e verso la suggestiva Isola di San Paolo. Le montagne che circondano il lago offrono inoltre una vista scenografica dell’opera, a volo d’uccello, regalando angoli inosservati e prospettive differenti. Sì, d’accordo anche nella Bergamo moderna al piano e negli antichi borghi vi sono locali dove trascorrere piacevolmente le serate e aspettare la notte in compagnia. Ma a Bergamo Alta la notte è diversa. L’antica città offre angoli di grande suggestione da scovare uno a uno tra luci e ombre, ma basta ritornare sulla strada principale, le vie Gombito-Colleoni, per godersi la vivacità delle vetrine dei negozi e dei locali, sempre più affollati. Nella città dentro le mura non ci sono solo monumenti ed opere d’arte: c’è un’atmosfera di piacevole animazione che aumenta via via che il cielo sopra le torri e le guglie dei campanili si fa sempre più buio. C’è uno splendido chiostro, quello dell’ex Monastero di San Francesco, che ospita anche il Museo della Storia di Bergamo, punto abituale d’incontro per tanti giovani. E non sono da perdere gli appuntamenti all’Orto Botanico dove in alcune sere si fa musica o si danno spettacoli, con in più una inconsueta veduta sulla Bergamo antica.
