Why Study at ICS? A Professor’s Perspective “ICS is where students find their purpose in God’s world” “I often recommend ICS to my graduating students, particularly to the intellectually curious ones searching to discover how their faith can further enliven the life of the mind. Church is not aca- demic enough to keep them interested, but the secular academy is not willing to engage the questions of deeper meaning that matter to them, and their faith formation would be lost. They came to ICS from Iowa, Alberta, New York, Ontario, and New Mexico via Saskatchewan. Their thesis topics ranged from Plato to C. S. Lewis to the Gospel of Luke, from Kierkegaard to herme- neutics to Bathsheba and David and Kristeva. Chancellor John Kok conferred four Masters and two PhD degrees. We value highly their contributions to our communal life and sent them out with this charge: “In the name of Christ Jesus, to use the insight you have gained to be of service in God’s world, acting in the Spirit for the flourishing of human life in peace and justice.” We were also witnesses to the inauguration of Dr. Doug Blomberg as President, pledging to support his leadership.
