Hairpin Lace Technique The Universal netting fork consists of 2 metal prongs and 2 plastic bars punched with holes. The holes make it possi- ble to work at different distances in order to create different widths of braid. Place both metal prongs in the outermost holes of base = 10 braid width. As in crocheting, make a loop at the end of the yarn. Place loom on working yarn. Posi- tion loop at centre of both prongs. Hook yarn and draw through. Hold left prong of loom with left hand. This keeps the working yarn taut. Bring tip of crochet hook to the front and place handle to the back be- tween the two prongs with the han- dle side facing up. Twist loom with a half-turn from right to left. A loop is formed on the 2nd prong. Continuing to hold the working yarn taut, push crochet hook from below through the left upper loop and work 1 dc. Push crochet hook handle to the back between prongs so that the tip of hook faces forwards. Twist loom from right to left with a half-turn. Work 1 dc into left front loop. Continue working in this way until the required number of loops has been made on both sides. Pull yarn end through last stitch. Remove one of the two prongs and carefully remove braid. Roll braid together and secure with elastic band to ensure that it does not unravel before further use. If there are too many loops on the loom, which can no longer be worked, remove the loops from the prongs and roll into a tight ball. Secure with a stitch holder and attach to the bottom bar using a rubber band. Place the two prongs back into the bottom bar and continue working. All samples, drawings and photgraphs ae copyrighted.
