  • Position Statement Has Been Endorsed by Nearly 2,500 Churches and Other Nonprofit Organizations
Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability 440 West Jubal Early Drive, Suite 100 ● Winchester, VA 22601 July 17, 2018 To: Members of Congress Re: Nonprofit Parking Tax The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, signed into law on December 22, 2017, contains a troubling provision that applies federal income tax to parking benefits provided by tax‐exempt organizations to their employees. Newly added Section 512(a)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code states, “Unrelated business taxable income of an organization shall be increased by any amount for which a deduction is not allowable…by reason of section 274 and which is paid or incurred by such organization for any…parking facility used in connection with qualified parking…The Secretary shall issue such…guidance as may be necessary…including regulations or other guidance providing for the appropriate allocation of depreciation and other costs with respect to facilities used for parking…” Tax practitioners who have evaluated Section 512(a)(7) generally believe that the result of this new provision is that tax‐exempt organizations that provide parking to their employees will be subject to unrelated business income tax on the cost of the parking provided. A nonprofit organization that simply allows its employees to park in a parking lot or garage that is part of the organization’s facilities will be subject to a tax on the cost of the parking provided. How the parking costs must be measured remains to be addressed in the “regulations or other guidance” to be issued by the IRS. To apply this new requirement, nonprofit employers and their accountants must have guidance addressing exceedingly complex questions of allocations of basis, depreciation, and rent payments among different structures and between employee and non‐employee users.

  • In Spirit and in Truth: Rooted and Established Freedom Church of Denton
In Spirit and in Truth: Rooted and Established Freedom Church of Denton Discipleship Volume 1, Lesson 13 • In Devotion (feel free to highlight, underline, and scribble notes. Take your time, working through the following material over the course of the next week…it would be better for you to get through one sentence with understanding than the whole lesson with no understanding!) …having favor will all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:47 We saw in the first lesson that discipleship is first and foremost about the child of God learning to follow Jesus in all his ways. As we learn to abide in Him, he will make us fruitful disciples and fruitful disciple-makers. It is more about what he does through us as we observe all that he has commanded (Matt. 28:20), than it is what we do in-and-of ourselves. The events recorded in Acts 2:36-47 are signed, sealed, and delivered, with God’s stamp of approval and blessing, as testified by the fact that the early saints continued in a state of favor with all the people as the Lord [himself] added to their number day by day those that were being saved. From the earliest days of creation till now, God has called his people to be fruitful and multiply (Gen. 1:28, 15:5; Mt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Rev. 7:9). His grace brings life, growth, and reproduction. Barely more than a few months prior to the events recorded here in the book of Acts, Jesus had left his disciples with the Great Commission, commanding them to go and make disciples of all the nations.

  • Hi Everyone, Hope Everyone Is Well, I Am Writing to You with Some Exciting
Hi everyone, hope everyone is well, I am writing to you with some exciting news, a new newsletter/blog is coming soon, sorry it has taken so long but it feels like I never seem to catch up with life here and I am always running 20 paces behind! However before I send out a blog I wanted to share some news with you.I have tried to summarise it as much as possible what God has been doing in my life over the last few months, if you want to know more please feel free to contact me, I also would value your thoughts and prayers, so here it is: Since coming back from the UK, God has been doing a lot in my life. I started attending a new church called Freedom Kampala, which has been birthed from Freedom church in Hereford in the UK. I loved the church and it's the only place I have found which had felt like home since leaving the UK over 4 years ago. I love the church’s values and what they stand for, their mission statement is connecting anyone everywhere to a life changing relationship with Jesus. Since being in Uganda I feel I have grown so much in my faith and have had opportunity to grow deeper in my relationship with the Lord and have been challenged about church and what church should look like. I've started to grow passionate about church being in the every day, not just an event on Sunday’s. In my role in Rev Life the Lord has increased my passion in wanting to minister to people and I have found myself becoming more passionate in this area.

laws Article The Impact of the Church–State Model for an Effective Guarantee of Religious Freedom: A Study of the Peruvian Experience during the COVID-19 Pandemic Susana Mosquera Law Faculty, University of Piura, Piura 20009, Peru; [email protected] Abstract: During the COVID-19 pandemic, many governments established important restrictions on religious freedom. Due to a restrictive interpretation of the right to religious freedom, religion was placed in the category of “non-essential activity” and was, therefore, unprotected. Within this framework, this paper tries to offer a reflection on the relevance of the dual nature of religious freedom as an individual and collective right, since the current crisis has made it clear that the individual dimension of religious freedom is vulnerable when the legal model does not offer an adequate institutional guarantee to the collective dimension of religious freedom.
