A real example of innovation with a wide range, not only of wines, but also of spirits and sparkling wines, importing and applying all the necessary methods, such as "champenoise". Antonio Guerra was a pharmacist and a real visionary, who was able to understand and value the potential of the vine- yards of Bierzo, far before the appellations, the architectural & design wineries, the wine tours and the poetic back labels even existed. Applying revolutionary winemaking techniques and marketing, when the term wasn't probably even invented, Vinos Guerra showed the virtues of the wines from Bierzo to the world. Wines produced with old vineyards of Bierzo, along the Pilgrim Way to Santiago de Compostela, on sunny slopes that conceal Roman and Visigothic treasures. An emotional marketing always combined with the quality of the many products of the winery. -

Sandeman Porto Fine Ruby
SANDEMAN PORTO FINE RUBY TYPE: Fortified COLOUR: Red TONE: Ruby DOC Porto Douro DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN: REGION: QR Code COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Portugal THE WINE Descended from the fiery ruby Porto Wines originally shipped by George Sandeman in 1790, Sandeman Porto Fine Ruby is still made traditionally to be rich and robust yet with a special depth of flavour and the finesse, achieved by expertly blending wines from Sandeman´s large and varied stock. TASTING NOTES Brilliant red ruby in colour, with clean aromas of red fruits, plums and strawberries, Sandeman Porto Fine Ruby has full rich flavours and is very well balanced. Rich, round, balanced in the mouth, with overt flavours of fresh plums and red fruits. WINEMAKER: Luís Sottomayor VARIETIES Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão WINEMAKING Sandeman Porto Fine Ruby is produced by the traditional Porto Wine method. The hand-picked grapes undergo stalk-removal and crushing before fermentation, under controlled temperature, with skin maceration so as to extract the best components. The addition of wine alcohol at the ideal moment sets the balance between the wine's body and bouquet. This moment is chosen by the winemaker following strict control of fermentation temperatures and densities, the later depending on the vine variety, maturation stage and the final sweetness required. MATURATION After the harvest, the wines remain in the Douro until the following Spring, when they are taken to V.N.Gaia and enter Sandeman's centuries-old lodges for ageing in oak wood casks, as required by Porto Wine traditional ageing system. -

Located in the Tarn departement of France - a 3hr drive south east from Bordeaux and about 70km north east from Toulouse - his tiny distillery produces what might very well be the most magnificent expressions of fruits liquor/sweet-wine and eau-de-vie. The man farms biodynamically 20 hectares (ha) divided as such: 3 hectares of vine dedicated to growing endemic grape variety: - 1.8 ha of Mauzac Rose - 0.5 ha of Prunelart - 0.7 ha of Folle Noire 2.5 ha of fruit trees: - 0.7 ha of Greengage - 1.3 ha of Pear trees - 0.5 ha of a field blend of fruit trees such as sour cherry trees, quince trees etc... 1.5 ha of truffle grove (and depending on the year, 5 ha of sunflowers and 4 ha of other cereals. The rest of the land is made of woods) The adventure started in 1967 when Laurent’s father started his one-man traveling distiller operation: while his dad had been growing some fruit trees for the family’s consumption, he made a living going from one village to the other, distilling the fruits small growers and families would have harvested from their garden.
