BSU and pitcher Terry Hadden held the nationally ranked Lions to one run in the season opener, but SETTING THE SCENE were unable to get a body across home plate in a 1-0 loss. Opponents: Truman State University * • The Beavers averaged 2.8 runs per game Feb. 12-14, scoring a game-high six in the third game. The team hit William Jewell College ^ .221 in the series with a .271 slugging percentage, a .283 on-base percentage and five steals. TEAM INFORMATION About Truman State 2015 Record: 14-33 (.298) • Truman State went 2-1 Feb. 26-28, at University of Southern Indiana and Saint Joseph’s College (Ind.). The NSIC Record: 11-21 (.344) (11th place) Bulldogs split with the Screaming Eagles, a 14-13 loss and a 3-2 win, and edged out the Pumas, 11-9. TSU Letterwinners Returning/Lost: 23 / 7 averaged 9.0 runs a game and allowed 8.3. Newcomers: 9 • The Bulldogs and Screaming Eagles opened the weekend with an extra-inning affair, which USI won with a walk-off RBI single in the 11th inning.
