Home games in Bold * - NSIC game About Bemidji State Rankings based on Collegiate Baseball Div. 2 Poll • Bemidji State was swept in a four-game series to open the 2016 season at Missouri Southern State University Feb. 12-14. BSU and pitcher Terry Hadden held the nationally ranked Lions to one run in the season opener, but SETTING THE SCENE were unable to get a body across home plate in a 1-0 loss. Opponents: Truman State University * • The Beavers averaged 2.8 runs per game Feb. 12-14, scoring a game-high six in the third game. The team hit William Jewell College ^ .221 in the series with a .271 slugging percentage, a .283 on-base percentage and five steals. Game Times: March 4 - 12 / 2 p.m. * • Hadden led the starting pitchers with a 1.17 ERA in 7.2 innings pitched during the series opener, allowing the March 5 - 12 / 2 p.m. ^ only run of the game in the eighth inning. His six strikeouts was one shy of tying a career high, set last season March 6 - 12 p.m. ^ versus Southwest Minnesota State. TEAM INFORMATION About Truman State 2015 Record: 14-33 (.298) • Truman State went 2-1 Feb. 26-28, at University of Southern Indiana and Saint Joseph’s College (Ind.). The NSIC Record: 11-21 (.344) (11th place) Bulldogs split with the Screaming Eagles, a 14-13 loss and a 3-2 win, and edged out the Pumas, 11-9. TSU Letterwinners Returning/Lost: 23 / 7 averaged 9.0 runs a game and allowed 8.3. Newcomers: 9 • The Bulldogs and Screaming Eagles opened the weekend with an extra-inning affair, which USI won with a walk-off RBI single in the 11th inning. Both teams went through five pitchers before the final pitch was thrown. • Truman State trailed Saint Joseph’s until the eighth inning by scoring the 10th and 11th runs of the game. • TSU returned for a win against USI by holding a ninth inning rally to one run.
