Países como Guatemala, en esta gran área biogeográfi ca, tiene grandes zonas de bosque húmedo tropical y bosque mesófi lo, por esta razón es muy importante para analizar la diversidad en la región. Lamentablemente, la fauna de mariposas de Guatemala es poco conocida y por lo tanto, es necesario llevar a cabo un estudio y análisis de la composición y la diversidad de las mariposas (Lepidoptera: Papilionoidea) en Guatemala. -

Here, we show that phenotypic plasticity in eyespot size in response to environmental temperature observed in Bicyclus anynana satyrid butterflies is a complex derived adaptation of this lineage. By reconstructing the evolution of known physiological and molecular components of eyespot size plasticity in a comparative framework, we showed that 20E titer plasticity in response to temperature is a pre-adaptation shared by all butterfly species examined, whereas expression of EcR in eyespot centers, and eyespot sensitivity to 20E, are both derived traits found only in a *For correspondence: subset of species with eyespots. BALCAZAR L. Florida State Collection of Arthropods, Division of Plant Industry, FDACS, P. O. Box 147100, Gainesville, Florida 32614, USA ABSTRACT.- A list of 205 species of butterflies and skippers is presented for Pedernales, Michoacan, in western Mexico. The fauna belongs to five families: Nymphalidae with 31% of the total number of species, Hesperiidae with 28%, Lycaenidae 24%, Pieridae 11% and Papilionidae 7%. A low species richness and a high species richness seasonally, which seem to be related to the dry and humid seasons, respectively, was found. The fauna in the area has a clear affinity to that of the Pacific Slope and especially to other localities of the Balsas Basin. RESL'MEN.- El presente trabajo es el primer listado lepidopterofaunistico para una localidad en el estado de Michoacan basado en recolecciones sistematicas. Un total de 205 especies son registradas por primera vez para Pedernales, Michoacan. Aunque la lista no es completa, se considera que continen alrededor de un 80-85% del total de especies presente en el area. Del total de especies, un 31% pertenece a la familia Nymphalidae, 28% a Hesperiidae, 24% a Lycaenidae, 11% a Pieridae y 7% a Papilionidae, composicion que concuerda con datos reportados para regiones neotropicales. Durante 1986, se encontraron dos epocas bien claras en cuanto a su riqueza especifica con base en la presencia de imagos. una baja que va de enero a junio, y otra alta de Julio a diciembre. -

Biodiversity Data Journal 5: e11410. https://doi.org/10.3897/BDJ.5.e11410 Abstract This work represents a study of the diversity of Lepidoptera on the Gehry's Biodiversity Museum (MBG), in an attempt to generate a list of the diversity of butterflies and moths visiting the coastal ecosystem of the Causeway, Amador. Collection of insects was performed manually, over a period of ten months (June 16, 2014 to March 18, 2015) and photographic records of the behavior of other species preying on Lepidoptera were also included. A total of 326 specimens, representing 13 families were collected. These included 6 butterfly and 8 moth families and 52 genera, and 60 species. This study represents a contribution to the knowledge of species that frequent the area, and encourages the conservation and development of the Calzada de Amador as an important touristic site in the city of Panama.
