We have included simple photographs of some of our recommendations as to the best species of exhibition butterflies on pages I & II. This is provided only as a basic help to identification for those of our customers who are new to the butterfly exhibition business and not familiar with some of the species we offer. They are not reproduced to scale. We have only been able to include a limited number of recommended species.
i UK HOLIDAYS AFFECTING TRADE
There are a number of Bank Holidays in the UK, ordinarily falling on a Monday. As courier services do not function at these times, London Pupae Supplies' outbound shipments will then be delayed until the following day and the office closed.
For your reference, the dates affected for 2009 are as follows:

Quality remains the most important element at London Pupae Supplies.
With our intention being only ever to ship top quality A1 pupae, experience has taught us that
the best way for- Pupae ward is breed them yourself! We have therefore developed a policy whereby we own or have an overriding control- ling financial interest in the majority of sites that produce Papilio palinurus One of Our Purpose-Built Breeding Rooms pupae for us. Pupae production starts with the selection of top quality breeding stock. The adult butterflies fly in large airy flight cages, with multiple sources of fresh nectar. Various precautions are in place to control species of parasitic flies that love to lay their own eggs within those of the butterflies.
The butterfly eggs are collected twice daily, stored in special boxes, labeled and dated then subjected to rigorous quality controls and dis- ease prevention regimes. The eggs of most species hatch within five days and are then transferred to the nursery.
After about three days, the new caterpillars shed their 1st skin and are
then transferred to purpose-built cages in the rearing rooms. All cater- caterpillar pillars are given fresh food plant daily and their cages cleaned.
After pupa- tion, the pupae are allowed to Attacus atlas hang in the cage for 24 hours in order to harden, after which ther are collected and taken to the "pupae room" for check- ing. Small, underweight or deformed pupae are discarded; only top quality A1 Working in the pupae room pupae, with known pupation dates, are shipped to Oxford for sale, where they are checked again for any diseases which may only show late, damage incurred in transit or parasitic infection that escaped the first checks. Only at this point are they deemed ready to dispatch to cus- tomers. All our farms maintain strict hygiene and parasite control regimes. All caterpillar cages and rearing rooms are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between each brood. For ease or for preference, you may prefer to elect for a mix of pupae, rather than - or as well as - selecting individual species. To this end, London Pupae Supplies are pleased to offer two distinct mixes.
Note: actual contents of mixes will vary depending on available stock but will always con- tain pupae to our usual high standard with a good variety and at excellent value for the indi- vidual pupa price indicated. Minimum order of a mix is 20 pupae.
GDMix - GLOBAL DELUXE MIX - €2.20 per pupa. This mix is drawn from all our breeding sources and may include some of the more expensive pupae such as Morphos and Caligos. Terrific value for money!
GBMix - GLOBAL BALANCED - €1.65 per pupa A mid-priced selection combining elements of both other mixes. Especially good for smaller orders!
GSMix - GLOBAL STANDARD - €1.10 per pupa This mix comprises species mainly sourced from our own breeding farms, which allows us to offer them at a very competitive price.

QUALITY GUARANTEE All pupae are guaranteed live and of A1 quality upon delivery to the customer's premises. LONDON PUPAE SUPPLIES will replace without question any pupae that are received at any specific U.K. delivery address, dead, diseased or otherwise not of A1 quality, provided the claim is lodged in writing within 24 hours of receipt and the pupae returned to us by 1st class post for inspec- tion. We regret that we are unable to accept claims after this period as we can have no control over the environment that the pupae are kept in upon arrival at the customer's premise.
AVAILABILITY As with all livestock, it is impossible to guarantee the availability of any given species at any given time. Should species fail, we will always do our best to offer a suitable substitution.

Delivery by courier such as Federal Express or DHL (minimum €35.00) is recommended for European countries due to slower postage transmission times within these countries. An alternative courier option is Bluebird Express (minimum €30.00) but contact us first as not all regions are viable for a one day transport.
