The Russian Colony Alexandrovka is an idyllic place in the heart of the city. This place was created in 1826 at the request of Frederick William III. In memory of his friend tsar Alexander I. you can still feel the Russian culture.

3 THE CITY WALK LENGTH : STROLLING THROUGH approx. 4.5 km THE HISTORIC CITY CENTRE approx. 9 km DURATION : This City walk leads through approx. 2 h Potsdam’s city centre and it approx. 4.5 h will seem like a hike through ARRIVAL/ different eras of time. Green DEPARTURE : oases and historic places invite Potsdam Main Station you to take a break. Stroll to the island Freundschaftsinsel and be astounded when you see the recon- structed Old Market. The tour leads you through the Dutch Quarter via square Bassinplatz. In the Brandenburger Strasse and its side streets you will discover inviting shops and cosy cafés. When you have some time left, you could also explore the Russian Colony Alexandrovka as well as the Sanssouci Palace and Park. For a different perspec- tive of Potsdam finish your day with a relaxing boat trip along the banks of the river Havel.

The panoramic bike tour offers the most beautiful views and vistas of Potsdam and its garden art of Hermann Fürst von Pück- ler-Muskau. As you experience the restored bubbling fountains of the Babelsberg Park you can still feel Pückler’s heartbeat. The deliberately staged vistas are particularly charming and best experienced from the Belvedere on the Pfingstberg, which also allows you to get the best view of Potsdam’s famous palace and garden landscape. During the tour you will take in historic places such as the Dutch Quarter, the Russian Colony Alexandrovka, Cecilienhof Palace and the Glienicke Bridge.

The bike tour around lake Templiner See proves that culture and nature go hand in hand in Potsdam. The ideal starting point is the Old Market. From the dome of the St Nicholas’ Church you will get a wonderful view of the cityscape. You will also be able to see how closely Potsdam is connected to the river Havel and its lakes. As you continue towards Caputh, you could take a small detour to Ein- stein’s summer house and Caputh Palace. Einstein enjoyed his summers here for a LENGTH : reason! Before you go to Geltow, take approx. 20 km a break on the terrace of restaurant DURATION : Chelinet.
