MONSOON 2018 DAILY SITUATION REPORT NO – 012 (PERIOD COVERED: 1300 HRS 5 July 2018 – 1300 HRS 6 July 2018) 1. Rivers Flow Situation Reported by Flood Forecasting Division. River Kabul at Nowshera is in Low Flood level and all other major rivers are flowing at normal level. Details at Annex A. 2. Past Meteorological Situation and Future Forecast by PMD. Significant rainfall reported during last 24 hours: Tanda Dam 43 mm. PMD forecast for next 24 hours predicts “Mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of the Country. However isolated thunderstorm/rain is expected over Upper Catchments of all the major rivers along with North & Northeast Punjab”. A fresh wet spell is likely to start from 10 July 2018. On 5 July 2018, roof collapse incident due to rain was reported at Chak No. 43/ EBB Yazman Road, District Bahawalpur. 3 x deaths and 5 x injured were reported. 5. Road Situation (NHA and Respective Provinces). All roads across the Country are clear. 6. Railway Situation. All railway routes are clear. 7. Preliminary Losses / Damages Reported a. During Last 24 Hours. 3 x deaths and 5 x injured were reported in Punjab. b. Overall details of losses / damages during Monsoon Season 2018 are at Annex C. 8. Relief Provided. No relief provided till now. 9. Any Critical Activity to Report. Nothing to Report. 10. NDMA Recommendations a. Timely clearance of sewerage / drainage system in all major cities including Rawalpindi, Lahore & Peshawar by all stakeholders. b. Issuing Alert to people residing in / close to river plains / water courses. c. Raising awareness to public with regards to vacating dangerous buildings, remaining away from electric wires and avoid swimming during rain especially in underpasses. d. Advising vulnerable population not to venture into nullahs / flash flooding routes. Page 2 of 5 e. NHA, FWO and C&W Depts of respective Provinces / Regions may please remain vigilant in restoring road linkages. f. Rain-thundershower with gusty winds occurred at scattered places Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, while at isolated places in Rawalpindi, D.G khan, Divisions and Kashmir.
