The proposed facilities would have the capacity of transporting approximately 50 cusecs of effluent water. This effluent consists of groundwater extracted during mining and does not contain impurities due to anthropogenic activities Positions held: Botanist Name of Assignment or Project: Resettlement Action Plan for Lakhra Coal Powerplant Transmission Line Project Year: Mar – Aug 2014 Location: Lakhra, Jamshoro Sindh Client: Mitsui Consultants Co. Ltd, Japan Main Project Features: GENCO Holding Company Limited (hereinafter referred as “GENCO”) is developing a 660 megawatt (MW) Lakhra Coal Fired Thermal Power Plant utilizing imported and Thar Coal. The project comprises the following associated facilities: (i) the main power plant including ash pond, water intake & discharge pipeline, water pump station and, two access roads; (ii) Siding Tracks; (iii) Coal Transportation Road, and; (iv) four 500 kV Transmission Lines (T/Ls). GENCO is seeking project finance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and hence require the project to comply with the applicable JICA and World Bank guidelines relating to the environment, social issues and occupational health and safety matters, in addition to complying with local laws and regulations. The Government of Japan, under bilateral agreement with Government of Pakistan, has initiated a Preparatory Survey through JICA Survey Team comprising Nippon Koei Co., Ltd and Mitsui Consultants Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred as “JST”). Environmental Management Consultants (EMC) has been commissioned by JST to conduct the Environmental Impact Assessment study of proposed “Four 500 kV Transmission Lines” for local regulatory approval from the Environmental Protection Agency of Sindh Province, & to meet the requirements of the specified reference framework as follow: • Applicable national laws and regulations in Pakistan; • World Bank/Safeguard Policy OP 4.01 Annex B; • World Bank/Safeguard Policy OP 4.12 Annex A, Resettlement Plan; • World Bank/Involuntary Resettlement Sourcebook; • JICA Guidelines for Environmental & Social Considerations (April 2010) • JICA Environmental Checklists and Monitoring Form for Power Transmission and Distribution • ILO Conventions and recommendations. Positions held: Botanist Name of Assignment or Project: Environmental Impact Assessment of Seismic and Drilling Activities Year: Jun – Sep 2016 Location: Dhok Sultan Concession Block-3371-15 (Punjab & Dr. Muhammad Assad Ghufran Page | 2 KPK Province) Client: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) Main Project Features: The proposed project covers a total area of about 700 sq. km and lies in the district Attock with significant portions of about 0.5% in the districts of Chakwal & Mianwali. While 89% of the block lies on the left bank of River Indus and about 10.5% on the right bank of Indus River in Kohat (KPK). PPL intends to carryout seismic survey which includes both 2D and 3D seismic survey and drilling of two exploratory wells located in Attock and Mianwali District of Punjab Province Position Held: Botanist Name of Project: Initial Environmental Examination of Naimat Facility Expansion Project Phase-V including Construction of Camp Year: Mar – Apr 2014 Location: Naimat, Taluka Tando Adam, District Sanghar, Sindh Client: United Energy Pakistan Ltd (UEPL) Main Project Features: The site for the proposed project is located in the Tando Adam Taluka, which lies in the western portion of the Sanghar District in Sindh. The site lies in the fertile plain area, which has an average elevation of about 50m. Naimat Phase V project includes the following components: • Production Separator • Amine Unit • Gas Dehydration Unit (Glycol) • Gas Dehydration Unit (Mol. Sieve) • LPG Recovery Unit (Turbo-Expander) • LPG Storage (Spheres) and Loading • Condensate Stabilization Unit • Condensate Storage & Loading • Produced Water System • Utilities (Hot Oil System, IA Compressors, Nitrogen Storage, RO Plant, Fire Water System) • Draining System • Flare Stack and K.O. Drums • Establishment and Operation of the site camp Position Held: Botanist Name of Assignment or Project: Environmental Impact Assessment of Drilling & Associated Activities Year: Oct 2013 – Jan 2014 Location: Sanghar South Block (Protected Areas) Client: United Energy Pakistan Ltd (UEPL) Main Project Features: UEP plans to conduct drilling of exploratory and development wells in the Protected Areas of DSS Blocks. UEP has been granted Sanghar Block (2569-3) & Digri Block (2568-19) by the Government of Pakistan for the purpose of oil and gas exploration. Sanghar Block lies across the Sanghar and Khairpur districts, while Digri Block lies across the Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Badin, Umerkot and Sanghar District of the Sindh Province. The proposed activities will include the following: • Design and location of the exploratory and development well. • Mobilization of the civil contractor and the drilling rig. • Design, construction, and operation of access road(s) to the drilling site and camp. • Well site preparation. • Laying of flow lines. • Establishment and operation of the site camp.
