Priatella phreatophila Carranza, bagre ciego de Muzquiz, Muzquiz blindcat--underground waters of the Rio Sabinas system, Coahuila (Rio Bravo del Norte basin). Pylodictis olivaris (Rafinesque), bagre cabeza plana, flathead catfish--Rio Bravo del Norte (including Rio Conchos), southward into Rio Panuco basin, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Neuvo Leon, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas, Veracruz; introduced in Rio Colo- rado and perhaps Rio Yaqui. ARI1DAE Arius aguadulce (Meek), bagre prieto, dark catfish—Rio Panuco basin, northern Veracruz, south and east into Rio Polochic-Lago Izabal, Guatemala, chiefly in fresh water, but living and reproducing in sea water, as in Laguna de Terminos, Campeche, and Laguna del Carmen, Tabasco. A. assimilis Gunther, bagre Mayano, Mayan catfish--Fresh waters of Atlantic Slope, from Quintana Roo (including Laguna Bacalar) to northwestern Honduras. A. caerulescens Gunther, bagre, cuatete, or chihuil—Pacific slope from mouth of Rio Colorado southward into Honduras, entering rivers. A. fells (Linnaeus), cabeza de hueso, hardhead catfish, Atlantic slope from Rio Bravo del Norte southward into western Yucatan, primarily marine but entering rivers (rios Coatz- coalcos and Usumacinta). A. gilberti ( Jordan and Williams, bagre blanco, white catfish--Pacific slope, entering rivers in Sinaloa and Nayarit. A. liropus (Bristol), bagre, cuatete, or chihuil--Pacific slope, Rio Yaqui southward into Chiquimulilla Canal, Guatemala, entering rivers. Bagre marinus (Mitchill), bagre bandera, gafftopsail catfish--Atlantic slope, lower Rio Bravo southward and eastward into southeastern Brazil, entering estuaries and rivers, the latter more so in the tropics. Potamarius nelsoni (Evermann and Goldsborough), curuco, river catfish--Rio Usumacinta, Mexico and Guatemala, freshwater only. PIMELODIDAE Rhamdia guatemalensis, juil descolorido, lowland catfish—Atlantic and Pacific slopes, from Rio Chachalacas and Rio Tehuantepec basins southward (including Yucatan peninsula) into Columbia. 4 R. laticauda (Heckel), juil de piedras, rock catfish--Atlantic slope, from Rio La Antigua basin eastward and southward into northweStem Honduras. R. reddelli Miller, juil ciego, Papaloapan blindcat--caves on Atlantic slope, Papaloapan basin, near Acatlan and Comalapa in Oaxaca and Veracruz. GYMNOTIDAE Gymnotus sp., anguilla—Pacific slope, southeastern Chiapas southward into Costa Rica, where inhabiting both slopes. CHARACIDAE Astyanax aeneus (Gunther), pepesca blanca, banded tetra—Atlantic slope, from Rio Papaloa- pan southward possibly into Panama; Pacific slope from Rio Armeria southward into Colombia. A. annandoi Lozano and Contreras, sardina labiosa de penjamo, fleshylip tetra—Penjamo on Rio Usumacinta, east of Palenque, Chiapas. A. mexicanus (Filippi), sardina Mexicana, Mexican tetra--Atlantic slope from Rio Bravo del Norte in New Mexico and Texas, southward into Rio Panuco, Cazones system, and in uplands to the Rio Papaloapan, upper Rio Usumacinta, Guatemala, Maya Mountains of Belize, and Rio Polochic, Guatemala.
