As we charge ahead through the last of the cold, take advantage of our program offerings. Our community center is now hosting Wellness 360 classes. If you are interested in Osteoporosis Boot Camp or Balance & Agility, consider this new opportunity. If you looking to relax and unwind within a structured environment, check out Meditation Mondays with Lori Goldsmith. March is Women’s History Month and Jack Kowiak will be here to teach us about some of the unsung heroes of the suffrage movement. If spring-cleaning is on your to-do list but you need Office Hours an incentive, sign up for Diane Fitton’s “Down Size to Right Size” class series. April 22nd & 24th We are looking for volunteers to join our crew as our 55+ May 27th & 29th programming continues to grow. Help Chef Preston plan, prepare, and serve our Senior population. A typical Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm volunteer shift is from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Page 3 Bus Schedule and Games March 2020 Door-to-Door Connections For Recreation Perinton Recreation Bus Schedule 24 HOUR NOTI CE REQUIRED Suggested donation of $2.00 for round trip to and from the Perinton Community Center. The bus runs a 9:00am pick-up and a 1:00pm drop-off Monday through Friday. As we look to expand our programming, this schedule can change based on need. Please call Kelly at 223-5050 x 1180 if you are in need of another time. An outing to Eastview Mall and the surrounding shopping area is available on the 3rd Friday of March (3/20) from 10:00am to 2:00pm. There is a suggested donation of $5.00. Game Schedule All games are in the Senior Lounge with the exception of Billiards at the Teen Center. If interested in playing Bridge, please call 223-1617. Page 5 New to March March 2020 Osteoporosis Boot Camp and Balance & Agility Classes In a new partnership with GVPT and Fighting Chance Rochester, we will be hosting these unique classes at the Community Center. Available in a drop- in format, both classes will be held on Wednesdays. In order to participate you must register through Wellness 360 and schedule a physical therapy evaluation. The One Time Drop-In fee is $15 OR participants may purchase 10 visits for $135. These classes begin on Wednesday, March 4th and run through December 30th. To schedule your physical therapy evaluation and register, please call 671- 0850. Osteoporosis Boot Camp is every Wednesday from 10:30am to 11:30am. Balance and Agility class is every Wednesday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Both classes will be in Room 209. For more information on these classes, stop by the 55+ Office or call 671-0850. Meditation Mondays Experience this ancient practice and learn how to apply it into your daily life. No prior knowledge necessary. In this 60 minute class, you will learn and experience the benefits of meditation. Simple instruction will be given in to help relax the body, slow down the mind and help create clarity. Meditation helps lower blood pressure, boost the immune system and helps resolve inner conflicts. Wear comfortable clothing. You may lie down (bring your own mat) or sit in a chair. Instructor Lori Goldsmith invites you to come invigorate your body and experience pure relaxation.
