Looking Back at the 1920s - a 100 Year Anniversary Perspective "History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme" said Mark Twain. One hundred years ago, the Victorian age dissolved into the 1920s. World War I had ended and the idea of a modern reality changed employment, sexuality, literature, perceived necessities, and even our concept of crime. In this hour we look at how the 1920s changed America, transformed how we see ourselves, and made generations almost unrecognizable to each other. Is 2020 presenting us with an equally revolutionary transfiguration? Come discuss the lessons from the past and present in this interesting historical hour.

Going to the Ball - Civil War Victorian Dance Most American dance came from (folk) dances of other countries. France and England contributed greatly to the style of dance American’s adopted. Although the dances of the 1800’s were structured from the formal dance of 1700s, Civil War Era styles started to cut lose using a less formal technique known as closed dancing. The closed technique of dance allowed the gentleman to take the woman close to him in his arms. Going to the ball or dance also came with its own set of etiquette dictated by the rules of culture and society. Join us for a trip through time as we explore the history and romance of dance through the ages.
