In his push for “Patient Centric Care” he wants everyone to know it’s more than just a concept or a catchy phrase. It is an organization-wide initiative that Covenant is adopting to make sure at the heart of everything we do is the patient. It’s not just our mission — it’s a combination of our vision and values, our core strategies and goals we use to move us towards our mission, plus the people who help put those characteristics into the care we provide. In short, it’s about our culture. Every decision, every action, should be purposefully conducted in the best interest of the patient. And for those not provid- ing direct care, then it’s about supporting those who do. Covenant leadership, employees, and medical professionals are encouraged to incorporate this philosophy into conversations, meetings and day-to-day work activities. It all begins with what makes Covenant — Covenant. Carrying out the mission of providing “Extraordinary Care For Every Generation” means having an employee family who is dedicated to always putting the patient and his or her needs first. LIVING OUT THESE WE CARE VALUES IS WHAT WE STRIVE FOR: WORKING TOGETHER – We understand that teamwork is the foundation of our success. We diligently work together as a team while balancing work and home life. EXCELLENCE – We strive through empowerment to do and be the very best in all of our endeavors. THROUGH EXTRAORDINARY COLLABORATION Covenant consistently places patient safety and quality in our top priorities. It is one of our top organizational goals, leading what we do and how Betterwe do it. Our journey toward becoming a High Reliability Organization (HRO) requires a collaborative mindfulness and acute awareness that even small failures in safety processes or behaviors can lead to serious adverse outcomes for our patients. We are committed to constantly search for even the smallest system issues that might lead to failure, and ultimately a safety event.

We embrace and adhere to a “safety culture” described by James Reason and Alan Hobbs who suggest that this culture involves Trust, Reporting, & Improvement.
