SportsDirect.com FAI Summer Soccer School programme entered its 21st year in 2017. Over the years, the camps have grown to become the largest programme within the Grassroots Department. The camps aim to provide children between the ages of 6 and 14 the opportunity to attend a week-long football summer camp over the holiday period. Every year boys and girls of all abilities turn out to enjoy five days of fun and football.

The Regional Committee will work with West Cork to have one hosted there. Main Activities The Committee has had some good discussions on how to develop the game in the region over the coming years. The New Rules of the Game were discussed and delegates brought these back to their Leagues. The Committee received presentations from the FAI regarding initiatives from UEFA etc., for the marketing of women’s football and on programmes focused on the women’s game. The DO’s gave updates of their work and workload.

New initiatives held/implemented A very successful Volunteer Workshop was run in the region, with 35 dele- gates attending. Feedback received was very positive. The Cork League held a Coaches Workshop specifically for those working in women’s football. It took place over two modules and approx. 80 were in attendance. These coaches have received their D Licence as a result of their participation. The Kerry Schoolboys / Girls League held a Workshop by Ruud Dokter for u11 to u14 coaches working in both the Girls and Boys game with 64 coaches in attendance.

Cork City Ladies PRO will be invited to the September meeting to see how the Region and the club can work together to promote the game.
