Announcing a series of six musical events at St. Thomas Church which serve to further our mission of outreach and service to Mamaroneck and our neighboring communities - celebrating the traditions of our church, traditional & progressive, broad & diverse, which enhance our worship life, assisting us in our calling to enrichen our world through expressions of inspiration, praise & prayer.

In the warm ambience and crystalline acoustic of Mamaroneck’s architectural jewel, The Choir of St. Thomas, directed by critically-acclaimed conductor Eric Milnes, and joined by internationally celebrated vocal soloists & instrumentalists, present six programs spanning four-hundred years of sacred music from North America, South America, Europe and the African diaspora.

Vtà{xwÜtÄá Éy ZÉÄw sacred music of colonial spain

17th and 18th century music composed for Jesuit Missions and Cathedrals by indigenous composers of Bolivia, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador & Colombia - an exotic mix of baroque guitars, recorders, , keyboard & percussion, accompanies internationally acclaimed vocal soloists and the St. Thomas Choir.

Eric Milnes & Ensemble L’harmonie des Saisons, Concepcion, Bolivia (2014)

Eric Milnes leads the international array of vocal soloists and instrumentalists of Quebec’s Ensemble L’harmonie des Saisons, performing on period instruments the critically acclaimed program they recorded last year, which was awarded the Canadian Juno Award for Classical CD of the Year (2016). The St. Thomas Choir joins this festive production which Mr. Milnes has directed at Trinity Church, Wall Street, at the Festival Montreal Baroque, and at the Bolivian International Renaissance and Baroque Festival.

a treasured anglican tradition

A musical highlight of the Christmas Season throughout the world-wide Anglican communion, the service of Lessons & Carols presents traditional carols, hymns & anthems, ancient & modern, illuminating inspirational readings of promise, grace and preparation for the Nativity of our Lord. The Choir of St. Thomas and invited guest vocalists from the Tri-State region present the music while processing throughout the sanctuary in the traditional liturgy of candlelight.

Congregational singing of favorite traditional carols is a highlight of this treasured musical heritage.

Cellist Timothy Eddy has earned distinction as a recitalist, soloist with orchestra, chamber musician, recording artist, and teacher of cello and chamber music. He has performed with numerous symphonies including Dallas, Colorado, Jacksonville, North Carolina and Stamford, and has appeared at the Mostly Mozart, Ravinia, Aspen, Santa Fe, Marlboro, Lockenhaus, Spoleto and Sarasota music festivals. He has won prizes in numerous national and international competitions, including the 1975 Gaspar Cassado International Violoncello Competition in Italy. Mr. Eddy is currently Professor of Cello at the Juilliard School and New York's Mannes College of Music, and he was frequently a faculty member at the Isaac Stern Chamber Music Workshops at Carnegie Hall. A former member of the Galimir Quartet, the New York Philomusica and the Bach Aria Group, he collaborates regularly in recital with pianist Gilbert Kalish. He has recorded a wide range of repertoire from Baroque to avant-garde for the Angel, Arabesque, Columbia, Delos, Musical Heritage, New World, Nonesuch, Vanguard, Vox, and Sony Classical labels.

resurrection and renewal for the easter season from the english royal chapel

The Royal Chapel in London was the birthplace of the some the greatest sacred music written for the Anglican Church, by composers in the employ of the Chapel who would chart the course of Western Music in the 16th through the 18th centuries :, , Dr. John Blow and (to name just a few) gained world-wide stature as musical icons, and each provided exquisite sacred music to the Royal Chapel at different points in their careers. Their music was also among the first repertoire performed in Episcopal churches in the American colonies and early United States. St. Thomas Church will reverberate with the echoes of English heritage, as the Choir and internationally acclaimed vocal soloists are joined by an ensemble of period instrument specialists performing on authentic baroque recorders, baroque oboes, baroque violins, viols, harpsichord and lute.
