We hope that this year’s annual conference is a time to unite and “Connect Hearts and Minds for Global Change,” with Fulbright Advocacy at the core. This year’s conference showcases some of the best and brightest members of our Fulbright community. The work that you will see this weekend highlights the diverse contributions to global change that Fulbrighters and friends are making in places near and far. Whether using dance as a means of healing or turning dreams into reality to create long-lasting impact on communities, our presenters continue to shape our future for the better. We celebrate the Lifetime achievements of remarkable Fulbrighters like Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Melissa Block, and James Polshek, three accomplished individuals in leadership, journalism and architecture. We also use the annual meeting as a platform to celebrate the community engagement through our 54 chapters nationwide. This conference is an extraordinary opportunity to engage with the wonderful members of our community and international partners. I hope that can continue your connections beyond this weekend. After all, it is the collective power of our hearts and minds that will drive global change now and for years to come. All the best, Mary Ellen Heian Schmider President, Board of Directors, Fulbright Association Special thanks to the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs for supporting our chapter workshops. 4 CONNECTING MINDS & HEARTS FOR GLOBAL CHANGE SCHEDULE-AT-A-GLANCE THURSDAY, OCT 24 SATURDAY, OCT 26 Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill – 7:30 am – 5:00 pm Registration & Store 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Open to registered participants FA Business Meeting only 8:15 am - 9:00 am 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm Registration & Store 9:15 am - 10:30 am Plenary: Fulbright Talks Shuttles pick up Advocacy day 10:30 am - 11:00 am Coffee Break participants from the Hill to 4:00 pm travel to Marymount University 11:00 am - 12:15 pm Concurrent Session Ballston Campus Shuttles leave from Capital View 12:15 pm - 1:30 pm Lunch on own 4:30 pm hotel to Marymount University Ballston Campus Leadership Lunch (by 12:15 pm - 1:30 pm invitation only) Opening Reception at 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm Marymount University 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm Concurrent Sessions Ballston Campus 2:45 pm - 3:15 pm Coffee Break Fulbright Documentary 7:30 pm – 8:45 pm Screening (Marymount University Ballston Campus) 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm Research Roundtables Plenary: Selma Jeanne 4:30 pm - 5:45 pm FRIDAY, OCT 25 Cohen Dance Lecture Lifetime Achievement 7:30 am – 5:00 pm Registration & Store 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm Awards Ceremony Plenary: Cultural Exchanges: 9:00 am – 10:15 am Impact and Innovation 7:15 pm - 9:30 pm Closing Reception 10:15 am – 10:45 am Coffee Break 11:00 am – 12:15pm Concurrent Sessions 12:15 pm – 1:30 pm Lunch on own SUNDAY, OCT 27 1946 Society Lunch (by 12:15 pm - 1:30 pm invitation only) Chapter Workshop (by 8:00 am - 4:30 pm 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm Concurrent Sessions invitation only) Fulbright Overview and 1:45 pm - 3:30 pm 8:00 am - 4:00 pm FA National Board Meeting Updates 2:45 pm - 3:15 pm Coffee Break Bus departs for National 9:30 am Museum of African American 2:45 pm - 5:00 pm Career Fair History and Culture Poster Session and Career 2:45 pm - 5:00 pm Counseling Optional Tour of National Museum of African 5:15 pm Buses depart for reception 10:00 am - 1:30 pm American History and Fulbright Reception (Polish 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm Culture Ambassador’s Residence) 4 CONNECTING MINDS & HEARTS FOR GLOBAL CHANGE FULBRIGHT 42ND ANNUAL CONFERENCE 5 CONFERENCE VENUE RENAISSANCE ARLINGTON CAPITAL VIEW HOTEL 2800 SOUTH POTOMAC AVE ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA 22202 The Renaissance Capital View Hotel operates a complimentary Airport shuttle service to and from the airport to the hotel.
