From here you continue to Puerto Madero before going back through Recoleta, the more upmarket neighbourhood. After an early breakfast at your hotel you are picked up at about 8am by your guide and drive 18km to the start of the trailhead at Hosteria El Pilar. From here you start hiking through a beech and ñires tree forest along the Blanco river. After an hour you reach the first viewpoint with great views of the Piedras Blancas Glacier. After another 45 minutes of walking you get to the Poicennot camp where you cross a hanging bridge across the river. From here it is the last push, a 420 metre vertical hike up to the Laguna de los Tres viewpoint. The view at the top of the Fitz Roy Massif, the lagoon and the glaciers is breathtaking. Return on a different path past the Capri Laguna lookout to El Chalten. 8 hours in total, difficult level moderate.

The first stop is at a remote working estancia where you can soak up the local culture. After lunch you board zodiacs at the Rico branch of the lake for about an hour's crossing enjoying amazing views of the Adriana and Moreno mountain ranges. Land on the beach at Las Monedas for a short walk in the woods. From here you get back in the boat from where you can see the Perito Moreno glacier from the water. After this you go over to the walkways at a time where all the big bus tours have left and there are fewer people. From here there are even better views of the magnificent glacier. Return by boat and bus to El Calafate arriving about 7pm to your hotel.
