Development of up to 16 stories will be allowed and will be tied to both design and affordability requirements. Galleries & Studio Buildings p. 4–6 • Affordability The challenges of affordability are real all over Denver, and we’re p. 8–13 Member Artists feeling that particularly hard in RiNo. To combat this, RiNo is supporting the implementation of affordability requirements that will be tied to density as the district develops out. RiNo continues Performance p. 14 to financially support the proposed Artspace project and has actively worked with developers to carve out affordable living and working space. p. 16–17 Makers & Artisans • Design The creation of a unique RiNo-wide design overlay and the Architecture, Design & Art Services p. 18–19 development of RiNo Design Guidelines have been a tremendous priority this year. The Design Overlay is nearly complete, and will amend the zoning with the neighborhood to require more p. 20 Branding, Production & PR thoughtful design to activate streets and allow light. The Design Guidelines will help carry the RiNo aesthetic through, even as development continues. Resident Supporters & Friends of RiNo p. 21 • Bicycle and Pedestrian Friendly The two-way conversion of Blake Street, and the addition of a p. 24 Cycling, Fitness & Health new dedicated bicycle lane in each direction, was a big win for RiNo in 2016, and now the focus shifts to Walnut Street, Brighton Boulevard and overall better bicycle and pedestrian connectivity Real Estate p. 26–27 for the entire neighborhood. • Sustainability p. 28–29 Community & Business Services We’re shifting into high-gear in prioritizing sustainable development and infrastructure with an eye towards supporting the river that is at the heart of the district (and our name).
