Dignosis: 11 broad oblique bands directed posteriorly from back to 2/3 of flank; mental lobes poorly developed on lower lip; a pair of bifid sub-orbital spine; caudal fin with 6-7 black bands;6-7 predorsal spines.

Diagnosis: Body elongated compressed, caudal fin forked and lobes pointed. Pelvic finrays reaching anal fin origin. Anal fin rays 50-56. Maxillary barbells extend to middle tip of pectoral fin.

Systematic position:

Diagnosis: Adhesive apparatus well developed longer than broad, without a central pit. Paired fins not plaited ventrally. Occipital process reaching basal bone of dorsal fin. Rayed dorsal fin inserted midway between tip of snout and origin or adiposedorsal fin. Body with three dark longitudinal bands on mid-dorsal fin and each one on lateral line.

Commercial value: Ornamental fishes (Or)

IUCN status (2021): Least Count (LC)

Diagnosis: Body elongate. Mouth narrow and subterminal. Barbels two pairs, maxillary and rostral. Scales medium, diamond shaped, lateral line 45–46, lateral transverse rows 8/1/5, predorsal 15–16. Last simple dorsal-fin ray strong and serrated posteriorly. Anal fin short and caudal fin forked.

Commercial value: Food fish (Capture species)

Distribution. Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland and Sikkim

IUCN status. Least concern.

Diagnosis: Body slender and compressed with dark lateral band. Head pointed. Mouth upturned, maxillary barbels extend up to half of pectoral fins. Lower jaw without symphyseal knob. Barbels two pairs, maxillary and rostral. Silvery white, darker on dorsal side. A broad dark greenish stripe of two scales width on side of body. Pelvic fin reddish and other fins hyaline.

Commercial value: Ornamental fish (Capture species)

Distribution. Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland and Sikkim

IUCN status. Least concern.

Diagnosis: Barbels absent. Anal fin with 17-18 branched rays. Abdominal edge keeled throughout. Lateral line scales 72. Length of caudal peduncle longer than its height whereas in all other species of the genus its length is shorter than its height.

Diagnosis: Body elongate, slightly compressed laterally, more on caudal peduncle region. Snout broadly rounded with a mere groove across its tip to form a transverse lobe. Snout with 6-9 small or large pointed tubercles; 3-5 small lateral tubercles anteroventral to nostrils; 4-12 minute tubercles anteromedially to nostrils,of which 2-4 on each side of the anterosuperior region of nostrils. A submarginal black band on the dorsal fin.

Commercial value: Ornamental fishes (Capture species)

IUCN status (2021): Data Deficient (DD)

Distribution: Arunachal Pradesh

Diagnosis: Lateral line scales 37–38 plus 3–4 on caudal base, transverse scale rows 8/1/5, predorsal midline scales small its number, lower lip papillated. Maxillary barbel completely hidden inpreoral groove at corner of mouth. Body steel grey, darker dorsally, darkest in the mid-dorsal region. A black spot above 5th lateral line, another on caudal peduncle.

Commercial value: Food fish (Culture & Capture species) Distribution. Manipur IUCN status. Least concern.

Diagnosis: Body elongate. Mouth narrow and subterminal. Barbels two pairs, maxillary and rostral. Lateral line 45–46, predorsal 15–16. Last simple dorsal-fin ray strong and serrated posteriorly. Muscular lobes present on pelvic-fin base, rarely on anal-fin base. Anal fin short and caudal fin forked. Edges of scales black, a black band on margin of opercle. Caudal lobe red.

Commercial value: Food fish (Capture species)

Distribution. Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Manipur

Diagnosis:Body stout, deep and compressed, preopercular hind edge smooth, with one or two serrations at angle. Preopercular hind edge smooth, often with few serrations. Lateral line with 51–52 scales. Cheek with 5–6 transverse scale rows. Translucent body,a definite dusky spot-on shoulder. Fin’s hyaline, dorsal and caudal fins with blackish edges.

Commercial value: Food and Ornamental Fish(Capture species)

Distribution. Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Sikkim

IUCN status. Least concern.
