Apopka Fire: Delivery of New Tower Truck The Apopka Fire Department recently took delivery of it’s newest fire truck, a 2019 Rosenbauer with a mid-mount Cobra Platform. Tower 1 has a 100’ aerial ladder, 300 gallons of water, ground ladders and several hundred feet of hose. It will be assigned to Fire Station 1 located in the heart of downtown Apopka and will be staffed by our Special Operations Team members. Tower 1 spent a week in mid-January at the Fire Rescue East Conference held in Daytona Beach. It was displayed in the Ocean Center Exhibit Hall during this annual event held by the Central Florida Fire Chiefs Association. Apopka Fire: Fire Extinguisher Safety Results from a nationwide research study show that only one in three (34%) American households have more than one fire extinguisher in their home, while nearly four out of five (78%) homes have more than one television. Having a fire extinguisher within reach can help you create a path to safety, and may even help you put out a small, contained fire. Remember to place a fire extinguisher within easy reach in rooms where fires are most likely to occur, such as the kitchen, living room, and laundry room. Please remember to check them yearly. THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY SCHREYER HONORS COLLEGE DEPARTMENT OF FILM-VIDEO AND MEDIA STUDIES AUTHENTICITY AND COMMUNITY IN THE POSTMODERN SPECTACLE LOLLAPALOOZA AS ALTERNATIVE REPRESENTATION CREIG SMITH Spring 2010 A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a baccalaureate degree in Telecommunications with honors in Media Studies Reviewed and approved by the following: C. Michael Elavsky Assistant Professor of Media Studies Thesis Supervisor Jeanne Hall Associate Professor of Media Studies Honors Adviser Matt Jackson Associate Professor and Head of Department of Telecommunications Additional Reader * Signatures are on file in the Schreyer Honors College. ABSTRACT This paper broadly examines notions of authenticity and community as they intersect in the music industry, particularly through the concept of the music festival. In seeking to understand these concepts‟ relation to society, the paper briefly overviews some of the tenets of the theory of postmodernism that underlie notions of authenticity and community. These ideas often come in conflict with the dominant, spectacular representations in society. Next, in trying to apply these concepts as represented in the idea of the music festival, it maps the early framework of the original Lollapalooza festivals as notable breaks in the spectacle, defining authenticity and community in an era otherwise indifferent to those concepts. With its antecedent clearly mapped, the paper then examines the role of the reincarnated Lollapalooza festivals and its possibilities to expand on the original‟s framework. Arguing that the new Lollapalooza reveals the ways in which the alternative can be collapsed into the larger spectacle, the paper finally examines the corporate censorship of 2007 headliner Pearl Jam, and how this act stands as antithetical to the original festivals‟ intentions.

  • SCOTT STAPP: the Space Between the Shadows
The Space Between the Shadows è il terzo album solista di Stapp che si è rilanciato dopo due lavori opachi: The Great Divide e Proof of Life (quest’ultimo, a dire il vero, contiene un ottimo pezzo autobiografico: Slow Suicide; n.d.a.). Ad aprire le danze World I Used To Know, che fa ben sperare i fans di Stapp (tra cui il sottoscrittto; n.d.a.), la successiva traccia Name e la traccia conclusiva Last Hallelujah sono due ballate potenti, due canzoni che si cantano a squarciagola con una buona dose di brividi.
